This bit of history is wonderful. The area is very well maintained. The actors dressed the parts and are very enthusiastic about their knowledge of history they share with the visitors. Other landmarks are near by and many restaurants around to eat at also. I would love to go back on a very active day. It was cold when I made a visit.

One of the best free exhibits in town. They have restored Lincoln's home and much of the block. It is a National Park so the guides are very professional and knowledgeable about what they do. It's a unique experience that you should enjoy while you're in Springfield. Don't forget to ask questions about the home and about the area the guides are eager to help. Great place to learn about Lincoln. Staff was friendly and informative. They had two videos, one was good and the other just mediocre. Our kids did Junior Ranger and earned a badge (just a standard one with the park name), a sticker and a temporary tattoo. We enjoyed the tour of Lincoln's House and the two small museums they have on site.

An interesting place for a short visit. I wouldn't drive out here just for this, but it's worth seeing if you're in the area. Parking is cheap, and both the house tour and self-guided neighborhood tour are free. Our tour of the home felt rushed and not quite as educational as it could have been, although at least part of that was because the tour group included a bunch of Boy Scouts. A tour group with mostly adults may have been more interesting.

It was an awe-inspiring experience to walk through Abraham Lincoln's home and get a glimpse into his private family life. Our tour guide was very entertaining and personable. Be sure to check out the "neighborhood" to learn more about some of the people and experiences that shaped Lincoln into the leader that he became. (I was especially intrigued to learn that one of the homes was a stop on the Underground Railroad!)
