Very easy hike around the loop. Takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. If you go counter clockwise, the hike is easier than the other direction. As many others stated, the creeks were mostly dry, so the numerous crossings were easy and your feet stay dry. I suspect that even after a heavy rain, due to the angle, the water won't get very high anyway and will run off fast. You will see sparse and young hardwoods the entire way. It looks like it might have been clear cut 10 to 15 years ago due to the smaller oaks and the sparse under growth. Possibly a fire several years ago could have thinned back the under growth as well. It's a pretty area for a short hike, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Nice walk. Steep, wish I knew there was a half way trail. Still a very nice walk.

This is a remote spot with a birding trail. No buildings. There is a pit toilet available. We intend to go back to hike the trail in early spring. Looks nice. The creek is large, quiet and beautiful.

I have worked as a seasonal naturalist for Roaring River State Park, who manages this park. It is a wonderful trail, which mimics the trails at RRSP. Perfect. We took a day trip to hike most of this trail in the middle of Oct on a gorgeous day. Fall colors are peaking with the maples, sumac, dogwood and a couple of oaks. Wildlife abounds this time of year. Saw Monarchs, Garter snakes, firefly larvae, walking sticks, various species of millipede. We will go back this spring!

Truly a nice country state park...small. Trails have afforded little wildlife to be seen or running water except after heavy rains or springtime.
Never crowded.
