Central BBQ

Good barbecue all around, but the ribs stand out. Great pink color from being smoked. The meat is still substantial and hearty, despite falling off the bone. I am a big ribs fan, and these are some of the best I have ever had, no question. Even if you prefer something else as your entree, add three ribs as a side to taste — you won’t be disappointed. Baked beans had some good, spicy flavor to them. Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Pulled chicken was also tasty, and others in my party spoke highly of the brisket.

I had the brisket sandwich. Loved how the meat was cut thin and piled up. Both the spicy and mild sauces I had were perfect. The beer was delicious and the band was rocking. We took our dog and sat on the patio... Good time while passing through Memphis on our road trip.

Holy Mother of God, this place is as good as everyone says it is. The beef brisket was heaven sent. My husband had no patience to wait in the long line to get inside, so we went to the to-go line. By the time we got our food, the line had moved pretty quick and the inside space is huge. We actually took our food to the park to eat and it was a free for all. The brisket was amazing, the ribs were moist and meaty and the bag of homemade pork rinds were BOMB!!! I wish I had ordered several bags. 😭 The food was A+++, wish we could've eaten it inside the restaurant. 😁

Central is undeniably a good rib joint. I'd have given five stars but for the following - the meat is fall off the bone but the smoke flavor was considerably mild. Their rub is good, but not five star good. Sides? Cole slaw lacks flavor and their mac and cheese paled in comparison to many other BBQ joints I've been to. It's definitely the go to place in Memphis, but isn't a reason to make Memphis a destination. If the parking lot needs an armed security guard, I'm not sure what that says about the community. Well, actually - I am sure what it says. Not much good.

In my humble opinion, best BBQ in Memphis. I get absolutely full on a half order of pork nachos ON HOUSE CHIPS. I've had the wings as well and they are delicious. I recommend Central to anyone passing through Memphis. Service is FAST!
