Very, very tasty! At first glance, if you're on the street your first thought may be, "oh look, a strip club", but you'd be mistaken. However, it's more likely someone will have mentioned this place to you when you visit Memphis. Regardless, it's worth checking out. The food is great, service is fast and the atmosphere matches what you'd expect from a cool BBQ restaurant. It helps that it's underground which adds to the atmosphere, trapping the smells and allowing you up pig out without fear of being seen through a window.

Truly some of the best barbecue I've ever tasted in my life... The location is not only quaint and unique it is truly historical and interesting... A basement of a side alley building... That smells delicious with all the hickory smoked barbecue and taste even better... The long Legacy of waiters there that have worked for 20 30 and 40 years... With their parents and with others... Speaks to the stability and the quality of this establishment... You don't keep people working for you for 40 years unless you're making them happy... And they're making the customers happy... Exceptional food exceptional Place 5 stars

Landmark rib joint in Memphis, featuring dry rubbed ribs.
Tasty spice mix with hints of coriander, black pepper and more. Professional staff keeps things in order in this fairly massive place. They take care if you and are helpful to the end.
Ribs deserve full rack treatment and come with slaw and baked beans. Slaw and beans are not run of the mill here either.
Personally have not tried anything but ribs, but friends have raved about brisket so...

We went based on recommendations from people we met in the area. We were told by several people this was the best place for ribs. The ribs were very good, but we were not impressed by the quantity of food. Each plate came with four ribs, a small cup of beans, and a small cup of coleslaw. Value: $12. Paid: $22.

There is no shortage of BBQ places in Memphis, but Rendezvous is always at the top of the list. The history permeates the atmosphere and amplifies the overall experience. Everything on the menu is legit BBQ, but you're there for the mainstay -- the slow smoked dry-rub ribs. Perfection. Personally, I think their mustard slaw is one of the greatest side dishes of all-time. Enjoy!!!
