Germantown Commissary

Love this place. My visit took place on Memorial day. It was my first time so I read reviews. I expected a crowd and a wait based off those reviews. Crowd was most definitely there. Absolutely no wait. Party of three, we were seated immediately. Nicole was our server. She was fantastic. Food was not disappointing. We ordered cheese plate and wings as appetizers, delicious. Entrees were chicken nachos, ribs with beans and potato salad, and 2 meat combo (shoulder and chicken)with macaroni and slaw. I was personally not a fan of the potato salad but don't let it discourage you. We were extremely pleased with our decision to come here. We will be returning soon.

Perhaps some of the best BBQ in Memphis!??! This is a no frills BBQ joint in the heart of Germantown. You may have to wait a little as there are only two small dining areas... but well worth the wait. No bar to hang out at or belly up to for watching sports... There are TVs in the dining area to watch games if need be.

I've eaten here on several occasions. Most recently was driving though Memphis and had to make a stop. The links and chopped pork are outstanding. Slaw is very good and you can't go wrong with a side of deviled eggs. Kids loved the sandwich plates and sweet potato fries. Can't wait until my next visit!

It WILL be crowded, but the food is superb and the service is great. We got a slab of ribs for two and had to take some ribs home so we could have a piece of pie for dessert. Took half of the pie home too! 😆 People wait outside to get in. There must be a reason! An additional location in Collierville is in the works. Both will offer the same good food, I was told.

Prepare for a 30 minute wait to get in during dinner but it is well worth it. I had the 2 combination plate with ribs and brisket. For sides I had the baked beans and Cole slaw. The meal also comes with 2 dinner rolls and a deviled egg (see picture). The ribs fell of the bone and were very tender. Brisket was tender as well with an awesome flavor. All the sides were wonderful as well. Parking is limited and the place is small (2 rooms with about 18 tables total). But it is so good you may feel the need to slap your mama!
