Place has a warm shower, but not for the faint of heart. No towels or soap. Cleanliness is realtive, but this place pushes the envelope into pretty dirty. Sign on the bathroom ecourages the use of the yard for "pee" and this is also the "tent" spaces so beware. It is dry in the rain and he will do laundry for a fee. But not the nicest place overall.

Joe & Donna Mitchell run a great hostel. What you want and what you need and no bs.

For a free donation based hostel it's a great place. However it's not the cleanest but that's mostly caused by dirty hikers.

We travelled from New Zealand to meet up with some friends living in Catawba, We stated at this hostel, and had a great time, Joe and co were fantastic and we are waiting for them to visit us in NZ to repay their hostpitality and to replay some chess games.
Yes it is rustic, and basic, but deserving of this 5 star review.
We were only going to stay 8 days before heading to LA for another week. We cancelled LA and stayed another week here.
