This place has some of the best ice cream I have ever had. We make it a point to come here whenever we're less than 20 min away. Yes, there is usually a line, sometimes very long, but it always moves quickly and service is good. They almost have too many kinds of ice cream to choose from but Cookie Monster is my favorite and their waffle cones are delicious. I think it helps that sometimes they are making them right in front of you and the smell is incredible. Considering the location and popularity of the place, we usually luck out and are able to park close by. While the inside can be very crowded, you can usually find a bench, table, or ledge close by to enjoy your ice cream.

The Creamy Standard for local homemade ice cream available in standard and changing flavors. A favorite of Mayors and Presidents, Grand Ole Creamery is a can't miss ice cream place in St. Paul. Pizza in the attached pizza restaurant too! Waiting outside to get in really is a large part of the community fun. You never know who you'll converse with, what children will charm you with their laughter, and what friendly dogs you'll meet.

I want to start off by saying I love the ice cream. I issue is the customer service. I live in Blaine and come down their even though I have closer options. The hours that they have displayed when I googled are not accurate. I went on a Tuesday night after looking at the hours online to ensure I could make it before they closed. When I got their with plenty of time to spare I found the door was locked. I knocked on the window to see what was going on but was completely ignored by the employees inside. I noticed that me and my friends weren’t the only ones fooled by the hours posted online. There were many other people coming to the door to find themselves in the same situation stating that they had looked up the hours but were fooled. I saw the pizza side was open and proceeded to go in to speak with a manager. I wad told that the posted hours were for the pizza side and not the ice cream side. When I did the google search I looked up Grand Ole Creamery “NOT” Grand Pizza. I told the manager that this was wrong people lookup the hours to ensure that they can make on time and sometimes like myself drive a decent distance to come down. In the end my five friends and I were not helped and turned away. It look looks like in the last 4 days since this incident happened they have updated the hours on google but their website states 10pm closing time but below the daily hours it states creamery closes at 9:30pm. So anyone wanting ice cream be their before 9:30pm not 10pm!

Don't have any customer service expectations. I ordered a cake over a month ago, called - with plenty of notice - to change the size. I was told both times I called to confirm it was updated that even though it hadn't been done yet "it would". Called again today since I'm picking up the cake Friday to confirm it was done and the lady told me it wasn't changed but fought me that I was charged for the smaller size though so she would just change my order to reflect that. After going back and forth she finally realized I was charged for the bigger size, as I said, and no one actually did anything about my call ins and requests. No ownership. No apologies. No follow up. I don't care how big or small your business is - whoever manages this shop or owns the shop should take a look at the customer service training and level of service provided to people. I don't mind when people make mistakes ... but to argue with a customer on the phone and be snappy and rude isn't the way to do business. Disappointing since the food is so good. Just lower your expectations for how you want to be treated when you're out and your experience will probably be fine.

They have a lot of different flavors of ice cream. I especially love their Taro and Black Cherry flavors.
They also have a "single split" scoop which you can get two different flavors with reasonable size for only $6.
Fun fact: President Obama visited this ice cream shop during his visit to Twin Cities in 2014.
