Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar

Great place to visit and also get food. We ordered several appetizers, and I ordered the fire grilled chicken which was only $10, the chicken was amazing so much flavor. Didn't care much for the sides it came with the mashed potatoes and green beans were mediocre. The appetizers we got huge onion rings, jalapeno poppers, and sausage were really good. And the view is nice to enjoy your meal in the shade feels like your eating in the forest.

This was our first time here and we absolutely LOVED IT! The service was great! The food was delicious! Tasty refreshments! We walked around to explore and this old cotton mill was unique and if the walls could talk, I'm sure it would have a lot of interesting stuff to say. I recommend sitting somewhere on the patio (lower deck facing the river was the best spot) on a hot day because sitting inside can be very stuffy. We will definitely be back and this will be the new "go to spot" after a long day on flaotin'!

I always like traveling all the way from downtown SA to the Gristmill. I'm almost never disappointed when go out there to Gruene. That whole area around there gives off the nice ambiance. My most recent visit was by an open window looking into the woods adding to the ambiance even more. The onion rings were great and the small size is filling on it's own. I'm definitely going there again soon. I recommend this place to be a nice date for any couple. I wouldn't recommend if you're on a budget, it's not cheap. When you're done with your food, there's a nice bar right next to it, although country is the song genre mostly played.

Everything is delicious. Not that I've tried everything, but what I have tried has been consistently wonderful, so I just assume it all is. My husband took us here for our anniversary and now I want to go back every day. The service was great, even though it was stupid crowded. Gorgeous location. Worth the wait to sit outside. Get the bacon wrapped steak - it is mouth wateringly good.

Beautiful views for sure. Food is typical Texas comfort food I guess. Lot of fried stuff. What I did have was good, but can't remember what that was at this point. Vibe of the place is really nice and the staff was friendly. Just hard to find something when you are tying to be eating healthier.
