The Powerplant Texas Grill

Historic site turned into a restaurant. Great food friendly service. Drinks were fantastic and everything was good quality for a very fair price. On the Guadalupe river (the old Power Plant) and still has old diesel generator engine inside.

We usually love coming here and bringing friends with us as well. Today however was a bit subpar. The manager was a bit crass when I asked if possible to let our friend look where the turbine was looking. He let us know that it was a private party and just how much they had paid to reserve that room! Then my husband waited over 30 minutes to get our drinks because the bar was short staffed. Took an hour to get our food and our second round of drinks. We felt sorry for our waiter, which we tipped very well due to the fact it wasn’t her fault it was taking so long. Seems management is ill prepared for parties (shower in the turbine room and a graduation party in the main dining room). We arrived before the party of 50 were there so should not have taken an hour to get our meal. The meal itself was good. Need more help on busy days and a more polite manager.

Has a very nice laid back ambiance, good service and good food. Simple menu that doesn't overwhelm you with too many selections. A beautiful view of the river. My wife and I will definitely be going back.

This resturant is housed in an old City power plant situated over the river. They have the old GM diesel motor and Westinghouse AC generator on display. Visually it was a nice touch but the staff offered no history on the historic fight between Edison's DC and Tesla's AC power generators though two burgers are named after pair. The AC/DC burger was by far the best on the table, the worst on the table was the house made chips which were absolutely bland and burnt. Meatloaf was great After you added the ketchup, before it was more like a Salisbury steak. The green beans with it were flavorful. The appetizer of fried onions and fried mushrooms were good. Chef's salad was pretty good, as well. The catfish had an interesting breading and was completely mush inside. My recommendation is skip the chips and fish and you should have a good meal.

The Powerplant was an excellent dining experience. We were given the choice of seating area. We chose to be next to the big windows and look out at the scenic view. Our server was prompt and very helpful. The onions and mushrooms appetizer was massive. We paused eating them to save room for the meal. Our meals arrived and the portion sizes are huge. All the meals were freshly made and tasted "home cooked." The server continued to check on us and keep us refilled. Overall, we loved the experience and scenic location. Well done!
