MDOT Motor Vehicle Administration

This place is always packed. I've been here a number of times and I've had good and bad experiences depending on the time of day I've been here. Sometimes it's been a quick experience and other times I've sat for hours. Some employees are nice while others are rude.

Do not take your driver's skill test here. The tester gave confusing instructions or no instructions when they should have, and was very stern, and made the environment very stressful.

Last time I was here the place smelt like BO and the gentleman working said that since my paper ID expired and they lost my hardcopy in the mail I needed to pay a fee for another .... then I was informed since I'm white I'd get a ticket and since he's not he'd go to jail .

My wife and I came to to get the license replaced, been here for 2 hours and still counting, seems like all the personal take their lunch at the same time for over an hour, they only leave 2 people behind the desk to help almost 75 people or maybe more. All the personal is new and slow just like the zootopia movie, wish the old personal was back, next time I will go to a different MVA even if I have to drive an hour.

In 2014, I came here to take my driving test. The driving school had sent my information in so I can go to any MVA to take my test, This location was the closest to me. I scheduled an appointment a few days after completing driving school. I walked in and got told my the employee at the counter "We do not have you in the system." then showed her the conformation papers and they STILL couldn't find me in their system. I didn't want to start an argument to I said "Ok I will reschedule again" Then walked out. While leaving I could hear her talking smart behind my back. Went home and rescheduled and printed out another conformation paper. A nicer women helped me out and they found me in the system. She assisted me where to take my car to wait for the driving instructor. About 10 minutes, a mid 30's gentlemen entered my car and told me where to drive. Passed parallel parking, Passed reversing into a space and passed the general course they make you drive on. They will take you on a open road. I passed that as well. He gave me some pointers and gave me a 3 strike rule. This guy was cool and I passed my test. I took off 1 star for the rude employee that wasted my time even though I had proof. So to conclude this review, I had a okay experience here. Bring extra copies of whatever document the MVA needs from you. The wait times was reasonable when I went back then to take my test. I wish MVA employees were not rude because that is not the way to run a proper business.
