Good looking shop and the guys certainly know what they're talking about and seemed pretty friendly. I was seen to almost straight away after an easy check-in system.
I went to see these guys because I was looking for an Apple genius bar reservation and these guys are premier partners. My Macbook Pro was looked at and the solution was deemed to reinstall the software and basically start the computer again. Fine. But they wanted to charge me $150 for the privilege. Two things about this....
1. This is re-installing software. Most people can do this themselves easily enough and not once did they say this, instead they attempted to sell a service.
2. Mike's Tech Shop is a premier partner of Apple and are on the list for Genius appointments. Surely then, they should have offered me this service for free because this is exactly what Apple provided for me later that day when I took my Macbook Pro to an Apple Store.
Disappointing Mike's Tech Shop...very disappointing.

This place is alright, but needs some work.
1. Don't bother with their "sign-in" system. I came in three times in three weeks, and two of those three times, my sign-in was completely ignored. Customers came in after me and just walked up and started talking to employees, and the employees engaged and didn't bother checking the queue. They seem to mostly ignore it.
2. You won't let me use the bathroom?? First I'm standing around forever after "signing in" like an idiot, then you'll take hundreds or thousands of my dollars in exchange for products and services, but I can't be treated like an adult and trusted to use a toilet?
3. On the phone, I'm told the very specific service I'm requesting on my laptop will only take 4-7 days. Once I'm in the store (on the same day), with the computer now handed over, it's suddenly 10-14. Huge difference and significant inconvenience. Please communicate better.
4. After finally getting my computer back from service, the exhaust fan is rattling and buzzing, sometimes extremely loudly. I can't afford to bring it back in and leave it for another 10-14 days, nor do I really feel like dealing with this place anymore. I can't speak to the relative value of the service, because I don't have a real point of reference, but I know that I paid way to much to get it back with a major defect like this.
The place gets two stars, because their space is pretty clean and organized, and also because their guy Anthony is solid. He's kind, chill, and was very patient answering my many questions. He should be running the place, or at least be promoted. The rest of the business needs to step it up.

I highly recommend Mike's Tech Shop. They are competent, efficient, and friendly. They quickly diagnosed a software issue on my MacBook Pro, recovered all my data, and backed everything up on an external hard drive. The entire service they provided was great, and the cost was very reasonable.

I needed four tiny screws loosened on my laptop so I could remove a faulty hard drive. They wanted to charge $75. Refused to help otherwise. If you are non technical watch out - they seem to gouge for trivial services.

Had three unsuccessful trips to Mikes - Manager was not helpful and unable to provide close to speedy turn around time. Don’t waste your time trying to find out what is wrong with your computer- go straight to Apple
