Pretty good. Everywhere around the mall is going to be expensive. I felt this was a bit as well. Husband got the bison burger. He said he couldn’t taste a difference between it and beef but it was a great burger. I had the Indian taco. The bread was delicious, the chili okay, and the cornbread was dry. Drinks are a rip off.

Food was very good and well cooked for cafeteria-style eating, though it was pretty expensive. Best way to save money is to go in on a meal together (2 people) and it will help the cost. For instance, one of the areas had a salmon and bison steak duo with three sides for $30
(good portions), rather than getting the salmon or the bison with two sides for $20 each. Great selections all around, and alcohol options. This cafe has the reputation of having the best food out of all the museums in the mall.

Restaurant is never open!
Was fortunate enough to make it to DC twice in the past year. Wanted to bring my fiancée to try out the restaurant in this museum (I've been there before, years ago), but each time it's been closed! The first time was mid-day on a weekend. The second time was today, 4/26/2018, 3:15pm on a Thursday. The weather was warm and tour groups were in full swing around the mall, but the chef was nowhere to be found and the restaurant was closed. Front desk staff was immensely helpful (they even called their manager since they were surprised that the restaurant was closed), since published hours are for it to be open till 5pm.
Still, helpfulness of the front desk staff aside, a very frustrating experience. We were told by staff that the reason other museums have shuttered their restaurants (Air & Space, etc.) was to direct more traffic to Mitsitam. This place being closed means there are now virtually no food options in that area, aside from the rare food truck or street vendor. Doesn't make any sense! Millions of people go the National Mall and you can't get food anywhere... very frustrating. :-(

Over priced, mislead google reviews! My family was traveling in D.C., we were looking for lunch, Google reviews seem good, so we tried, what a mistake! A small size burger comb for $16.99 + tax, the Quiza soup with very small portion and not warm at all, corn bread is cold and half of size, family of 4 spent over $80 for a lunch. What a rip off!

You find the usual food items found in the other museums and they have a few native American or Native American-inspired foods. The seating area is very nice as it is naturally lit. It's like nice just to sit there.
