This place is amazing and the food is quite authentic. I've been to both Germany and Austria and the food taste just as good if not better here! My German friend really enjoyed the schnitzel.

When I lived in San Jose a few years ago, I went here often and was always happy with the food and service. However, things have changed. The only thing I recognize is the name. Decor is uninspired, the service is just OK - the staff will take your order and bring it to your table. The issue is the food. I was there with 4 people, these people are not picky and not one of them liked their food. I heard the swordfish was pretty good, but don't trust this persons opinion about food.
I got really sick in the middle of the dinner and was sick for two days after that. Not sure what it was exactly in the rolled cabbage I ordered, but my reaction to the spice or ingredient was violent. The odd thing is that my mother ordered the same dish and was fine. There was this one bite that did not quite taste right and I paid for it.
This was my last visit here, once a restaurant poisons me, there is no way back :|
*Not sure if this is the same management, but they need to bring back the old kitchen staff, hire new waiters and use different ingredients. OpenTable is also at fault for advertising this as the restaurant of the year.

I was meeting family and was a bit late. By the time I got there they had already gotten drinks and ordered a pretzel. We ordered our entrees which came quickly. So quick that the pretzel was out after the entrees. That's the reason for one star off. They did end up taking the pretzel off the bill. Entrees were superb. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Good place for Austrian/German food. Definitely try the spatzle if you haven't already. We ordered the jäger schnitzel, but it was just okay. The meat was pounded quite thin and had lost the outer crispiness.
$20 for the scallop appetizer that came with TWO scallops was a bit exorbitant in my opinion.
Loved the vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote though. Worth the $12.
Overall, this restaurant was a bit overpriced for what they serve. Yea, I get that they have a monopoly on German/Austrian food since it's pretty rare to find that in the Bay Area, but I actually prefer places like Schroeder's in SF better.
