Delicious east German food!!! This place was recommended by a friend of mine who is German. Her father was a chef in Germany and she said it reminded her of her father's cooking. This place is no frills, no pretentious, home feel. Staff are very friendly and attentive! Food came out quick!!

I am not from San Francisco, but I have lived in four cities in the last four years (on multiple different continents). On top of that, I have traveled all over the world to dozens of cities in dozens of countries which means I have tried many different types of food. I came to Walzwerk because I have never tried German food. I ordered the Chicken Breast meal which was covered in a delicious sweet sauce and stuffed with bacon, apples and vegetables. The mashed potatoes and veggies on the side were also absolutely amazing. The entire meal was most definitely in the top 3 best meals I've ever eaten in my life. Absolutely incredible. Hats off to Walzwerk!

The restaurant feels very cozy and welcoming. The staff and food is no frills and reminds me of a restaurant I ate at while in Munich last year. There is limited seating though, so pick the right night, make a reservation, or be prepared to wait.

Authentic German food. I used to live in Berlin. When I miss German atmosphere, I go to this restaurant. Great food and people working there is friendly. It's lively in a good way. I love this place.

Easily the best German restaurant in San Francisco. Inside, the East German decor feels very homey and is just downright cool. The food and beer selection are very authentic, and you would be hard-pressed to find something on the menu that isn't delicious. Lastly, the friendly service makes this a must-try restaurant for anyone living in San Francisco.
