Orchard Beach State Park

The beach isn't open for the season because the water level is up so much. The steps are unsafe for people to use at the end of them. That's a bummer. The sites are mostly flat, enough sun and shade. It's pretty busy this Memorial Day kick off! It's nice at warm!

Clean bathrooms, open campsites, respectful neighbors. However we probably won't be back as they just put in new signs that block off any and all hammocking spots. Big bummer.

Orchard Beach currently has no beach. It's closed because of erosion, and will remain so until lake levels go down. The bathrooms were kept clean but there was no running hot water for showers until halfway through memorial weekend.

Very nice campground. Sites larger than many MI parks. Great views of lake MI and sunsets. Easy to walk trail along the bluff overlooking the lake. Like all of western MI there is no soil, it's sand everywhere.

Camped here as a child, been back a few times over the last 40 years. Still a nice, quiet park, nice trails across the road. Bathrooms are dated but nice. I would definitely recommend this park if your staying in Manistee or just passing through.
