Tried to leave a lost kitty there forgot my bag in my car parked 10 ft away. The intake person called out a security guard. He grabbed me & tried to drag me back in. I tried to explain I was just getting my bag to pay the $70 drop off fee. All i can say is DoNot leave Animals here. They don't know how to treat humans. How would they treat a kitty. Kept kitty, dumped them. Found nice happy home for kitty. This is a true story. I found it beyond strange. Honestly! Petaluma Animal Shelters are usually no kill etc.; the counter person must have been a bit unwell. Saw it was closed down shortly after. I obviously have not returned. But be aware-if they did it once...

Friendly staff who know a lot about the animals in their care. We donate to this shelter on a monthly basis. Follow them on social media. We'll be adopting from this shelter soon.

I cannot speak to their love and care for animals, but my personal experience with the staff echos some of the other reviewers. It would behoove the staff at this facility to treat people bringing in strays, or considering adoptions with less hostility. Once I considered adopting one of their cats and the staff member behaved like an aggressive attorney representing the cat. They treated us as though we might be negligent and irresponsible. It left me with a resolutely negative view of this facility. I hope management of this facility considers staff training in how to interact with the public in ways that do not alienate potential donors and animal lovers.
