The Porcupine Mountains was my favorite part of our trip, we are already planning on making a trip just for the Porkies. Go see the Lake of the Clouds, it was awesome. We also went to Summit Peak, second highest peak in Michigan. We would have loved to do some more hiking but didn't have the time. Can't wait to come back. Also all of the park employees were very helpful and nice.

This Michigan State Park is right on the shore of Lake Superior. It's a beautiful place to spend a couple days. Camp in a campground with electrical hookups, flush toilets and showers or choose a rustic campground. Either way you'll have a great view of the lake. Hike to Lake of the Clouds on the north side and explore the waterfalls on the west side of the park. There is plenty to keep you occupied for 2 or 3 days.

Only problem with the park are the bugs! Bring head net if you're going to go. It's a great park to do lots of hiking. There are hike trails that allow you to camp over night. They also have guided tours to a ghost town. Lots of fantastic things to do with a rich history.

I lost my kids on the trails for 5 hours so I can't say I enjoyed getting back to nature as much as I'd hoped. DNR jumped in to help as soon as they were notified. No cell reception made it difficult but in the end we all really enjoyed the beauty of the woods, falls and mountains!!! We saw deer, snakes, frogs and more. Be sure to wear a net because the flies are outrageous.

Incredibly beautiful secluded car camping spot Nestle's right up against Lake Superior. Would go back in a heartbeat so much more exploring to do! While you're in the area make sure you get over to the Lake of the clouds also pretty incredible.
