Absolutely horrible company. If you’re looking for alarm services, DO NOT use protection one. They bought out our old alarm company. One day I set off our alarm on accident and realized no one called me to inform me of an alarm incident. I called them and they informed me my alarm had been in “test mode” for an entire year since they took ownership of the alarm company. After several months and phone calls, we were issued a reimbursement. Tonight, my alarm went off again with no phone call. When I called, they stated we Cancelled the alarm. My husband and I were together and neither of us knew it had gone off until we got home. Very disappointed in protection one and the level of protection our home has received. We cancelled our contract and are calling a local company tomorrow.

Absolutely the most worthless company I have done business with. They had me in test mode for an entire year after installation and I only found out when our alarm went off and no one called us. Our alarm went off again this evening and the company blamed not calling us because we cancelled the alarm on the panel, which is not true. We came home to an alert on our system and were never called. I cancelled service this evening and will gladly pay the remaining 7 months left on the contract to never have to speak to any of the incompetent employees at this organization ever again.

Absolutely horrible company. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH PROTECTION ONE. On Aug 3rd 2016 I had a horrible motorcycle accident and was in a coma for a week and in the hospital for a month. Sept. 2016 we called and cancelled our service with them and we were way past any contract with them. They said that they cancelled service. My said she even cancelled service while I was in the hospital. We never got a phone call or a bill. In Dec. 2017 they sent a bill for $266 and we called them. They said our service has been active and I haven't paid my bill so they terminated service in July 2017. I disputed it but obviously didn't get anywhere with them and told them that I would pay the money. I told them how horrible of a company that they were. I mailed them a check for $266 on Dec 27th 2017. On Jan. 12th 2018 I received a letter in the mail from Complete Professional Recovery LLC for the $266. I checked my bank account and Protection One had cashed the $266 check on Jan. 9th 2018. The letter is dated Jan 9th from the collections company. This is complete fraud....now I have to go through the collections agency process of disputing the charge or they will charge me again. This company is a complete fraud. I wouldn't doubt if the collections company has ties to Protection One and are exploiting people out of money. They cashed my check and sent it to collections on the same day. That is vindictive and unnecessary after I informed the lady that I was paying the fraudulent amount. Everyone needs to report them to the Better Business Bureau so they are investigated.

Very poor customer service. I signed a 3 year contract for services. At the end of the contract, I wrote in my intention to cancel, per the contract agreement. They billed me for the last month, which I paid, then they immediately cancelled my services three weeks before the contract period ended. I called and asked them why they billed me for the last month if they were just going to terminate services and they were confused that I had actually followed the contract instructions and said that most people just want it automatically terminated when they notify them of their intent to cancel, so that's what they did. I, again, explained to them that I had a problem paying them for services that I do not receive, regardless of my intent to cancel. So they told me they would reactivate my services for the rest of the month (acting like they were doing me a favor), and then go ahead and manually go in and end it at the end of the month. This conversation took place a week ago, and they have still not reactivated my services. I feel like they stole money from me and blamed me for actually following the contract instructions because that's not what people normally do.
UPDATE*** Not only did they not reactive my service, but they just sent me a bill for half of July (after I cancelled, pursuant to the contract, at the end of May). I called them and they told me their policy was to bill for 30 days after termination of the services. I explained to them that that was not what their contract said, and I did everything according to the contract. They are supposed to have a manager call me back, but I am frustrated I am being billed for something according to their "policy," when they made me sign a contract for services that apparently doesn't matter because they don't follow it, but expect the customer to.
