Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station

Nice station. The new apartments give it a newer feel. It has a good view of the city, too.

Nice station, but I kind of miss the way the station looked prior to the construction of Rhode Island Row complex and shopping center with Chipotle, CVS, and Sala Thai, which began in late 2010. It destroyed the hsitorical look of the station and also is blocking the nice and clear view I used to enjoy of the Post Office Trucks, AJ Wright, Home Depot, Giant, and Bank of America. Crime is also way too high at this station. This is one of the most dangerous metro stations as it is plagued with crime from Edgewood and Eckington, as well as the Brentwood neighborhood in general. The station's safety had improved, but has a long way to go. This is still one of my favorite train stations though. Right on Route 1 outside the station is where a lot of interesting history takes place. Also, this station has a very nice view of the capitol building. This station used to be known as just Rhode Island Avenue prior to November of 2004. The Brentwood name was later on added during this time when the New York Avenue Station opened. Before that, the red line used to go straight to the Union Station from here.
