Lovely trail for a run

We hiked there today, May 15, 2017. There are a number of trails to hike and I believe we hit all but one. It is a pretty location, but some of the trails were a little hard to locate as the weeds were growing, (what else should I expect from an area that is left natural?) The view from the top was very, very good. From the second parking lot you have a paved walkway thru some beautiful natural prairie. They have some excellent signs to explain about the area and what they are doing. I thought the high rise bee hotel was rather unique.
Our biggest problem was when we were thru with the hike. My husband felt something on his leg, it was a mid sized tick. He then looked at his socks, and tennis shoes and began to pull off a lot of extremely tiny ticks. So did I. Conservatively, I would say we pulled off at least 70, Thought we had them all, stopped in Tonganoxie for lunch and found several more. Got home and again found more, Most were on my husband. They were so small you almost needed a magnifying glass. We had sprayed heavy for mosquitoes with a spray that was suppose to deter ticks as well, but it did nothing.
I respect the fact it is a KU research location so they do not spray, it probably makes for some great research, but due to the ticks, we won't go back.

It's quiet, the trails are marked very well, and there is a cool platform with a great view on the Roth trail.

Wonderful trails; but the caretakers were INCREDIBLY RUDE. They are also incredibly strict about being anti-pet.
I would stay away.
