Great place for my son's first backpacking trip. The backpacker camp is perfect for a quick one night stay with plenty of space for a tent, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Only gripe is the ticks. Be ready for the ticks.

Overall lackluster. Very underwhelming. Beach was closed and they didn't give us notice beforehand on a major holiday weekend. The campground host was crass at best. Very vanilla like any other cookie cutter, overrated campground.

Love this park!! Great fishing, swimming, and boating! Lots of trails and picnic areas... the camp sites are awesome, too!! 5 stars from the Johnson family.

Thousand Hills is, simply put, the best hiking you're going to find in this part of the state. Well worth the >20 ride from school or two, and is a great destination for a weekend in Kirksville. Highly recommended!

Thousand hills is simply one of the prettiest places in Northeast Missouri. Numerous trail systems, a big lake for boating and fishing. Sitting the summer the marina offers host rentals, bike rentals, kayak rentals. The restaurant is out of this world. There is also camping, a beach, and cabin rentals. If you are in the kirksville area, this is a place you must visit
