UNM Pediatrics

My review is going to be a bit complex because we have been in a few different floors the passed few days. Im editting this review from a previous 1 star review i gave the pediatric urgent care a few months ago.. That review still stands for the urgent care department. PEDIATRIC URGENT CARE: ONE STAR I took my daughter in for a rash that was quickly spreading over her body, and a fever. It started on her legs and within the two hours we were sitting in the waiting area it spread to her entire body. After being briefly looked at by the supervising doctor, she told me it was bug bites. Even after stating to her that the rash was spreading literally as we were sitting there and theres no way it could have been THAT many bug bites without her letting me know, or me having the bites as well she still insisted it was bug bites. Being frustrated i ended up taking my daughter to a different hospitals emergency care unit where she qas immediately diagnosed as having an allergic reaction to a medication she was on. The supervising doctor at unm knew about this medication and still insisted it was bug bites. This faulty misdiagnosis, and rushing us out could have cost my daughter her life. I will never take my daughter back to this hospitals pediatric urgent care again. PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ROOM: FIVE STARS We were admitted on Wednesday morning due to my 14mo having RSV and her O2 levels being low. I was very impressed with the ER department, they were quick to respond to my daughters needs, but also took into account her feelings and the fact that she was absolutely terrified of being here. Im a nursing mom and they were wonderful about that as well, and very encouraging. The staff was amazing and they informed me of everything that was going on. We were moved from the ER triage area to ICU. PEDIATRIC ICU: FIVE STARS We have been here for two days. I have to admit at first i was very intimidated by the ICU. But upon coming up here, that feeling has eased. We were immediately welcomed by the staff and they have been wonderful to my daughter and I. They inform me of everything thats going on and the next steps in her treatment. They answer any questions i have had as well. The doctors come in frequently to check up on us and the staff from previous nights have came in to see how she is doing. You can tell how much they care about how their patients.

The nurse who helped was awesome , even going out of her way to clean up after my son who vomited all over the room while waiting and gave him clean clothes... she helped make our experience so much better!

I had to take my daughter to the pediatric emergency room here. We went in and by the time I finished signing her in, they were calling us back. It was very kid friendly. The staff was great. Three doctors came in to see her and they were amazing with her. Made her laugh and all. They even got her some Gatorade. If we ever had to go back we wouldn't hesitate. Thank you all! Added a picture of my kiddo here, she didn't want to take a pic hence her face lol.

Extremely slow. Have been waiting in a waiting room full of sick coughing kids for 2 hours. If my infant daughter wasn't sick before she is now. Completely unacceptable.

Unscheduled visits to urgent care can sometimes result in a very long wait.
