Not really happy with their responsiveness. Called yesterday 5x. Instead of answering, they pick up the phone momentarily (you can hear them talking in the background), and then simply hang up... When you finally reach someone, they seem pretty helpful. BUT (there's always a but), when you schedule a service call... they only have WHOLE DAY windows. This means that you must be available for the entire day as they cannot give you a time, or even a range of time, to be available. By comparison with most cable-tv providers... they can at least give you a range of time that they will arrive ( within a couple hours)... In all fairness, they do have a 30-minute call-ahead service where they will call within 30 minutes of their arrival time. This might be helpful if you don't need to leave very far from the house... but you still don't know when they are going to call... so you really can't go anywhere.
Realistically, however, I have to just chalk it up to a serious lack of competition in the area. Vectren is a monopoly in this area. They are the ONLY natural gas provider... so they get to write their own rules. It's also because of their monopoly that your complaints really won't mean anything... they simply don't care. Buy their gas - or don't. It really doesn't matter to them. Sad....

I get gas, but they gouge you with a $2.50 "convenience" fee for credit cards. There's nothing convenient about that. I'm aware businesses have to pay credit card fees, which is why they charge at most $1.50. Vectren making money off my method of payment is sickening and shameful.

Being the ONLY gas provider for the area, they can charge astronomical fees and get away with it. Not sure why there is only 1 provider for this area. Something to be said about a monopoly here no doubt. Pay it or go without.. They suck and I would not be with them if I had another choice.

One star off for using credit to determine service rates. Otherwise, great customer service. I work all day and sometimes miss my bills. They call me to remind me I missed the bill and are quite polite about it.

Absolutely the worst utility company I've dealt with. Do not recommend.
