Worthless, money hungry scam artists and so is everyone who works for them. My monthly payment came out automatically, I received my electronic notification that it came out then later on I get a notification that they couldn't locate my account and the are charging me a fee because of it. When I log in online there is no balance and it has been paid. I hate this company with a passion. I am getting to the point of not wanting to deal with it at all. I was also told if I called after 5 then I could be charged a fee up to $200 because it's "after normal business hours". I work 8-5. How the hell am I supposed to try and take care of this garbage when there is a possibility of it costing me money just for calling. How is that even a policy??? This company doesn't care about it's service or taking care of it's customers they just care about how much they can rip you off and to make it worse, there is no other option for electric in this area so it is either get scammed and treated like dirt or just not have electricity. I hope all of you greedy, inconsiderate, heartless, slimy jerks have fun with all of the money you steal from hard working people.

Someone I know has had power out since 9pm last night d/t Duke upgrading their meters and causing an issue (so they shut the new meter off in freezing weather) cutting her apartment power out for the night.
Duke was supposed to be out early this afternoon (after the issue was fixed) to turn the power back on at their meter. Issue was fixed by noon. Still haven't arrived and it's dark outside. When speaking with the rep (the 3rd rep that is) she was told that "that department is closed and we cannot get any answers until they reopen".
Unrelated:
My neighborhood has a straight line of certain houses on a different grid. 4-5 times per year it goes down for 8-14 hours. Same BS everytime. No others in our area except for those on this grid are affected. Seems like it's an issue with that grid, but why would they fix that?!!!!
If I could give negative stars I would. This is the worst utility company out of any I have ever encountered in the various city/states I have lived in. If they didn't have a monopoly in this area they would be out of business d/t incompetence.

Horrible service, charged $180 when I WASN'T LIVING THERE during the past month with my heat set to 58. The bill before was $160. Average bill is usually $60. I am told it's a new meter, so something in my house must be broken. They tell me I have to pay because their equipment works... The kind service rep offered to shut off my power instead. Ridiculous
At this rate they are trying to make me live outside revert back to primitive ages.

This company cares souly about your money and not your well being. They won't contact you about anything just so it will turn into a big ordeal; where you have to waste your personal time standing at the bank or being passed around from rep to rep.
It could be the middle of winter, or you might just be all the meat from the store. At The same, Duke lost your paycheck that you sent to them, and now they're on their way to your house to shut off your energy; because they lost your check.
THATS NOT HOW YOU HANDLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. That's called being a *number of insults*
Anyway. You want some useful advice? Are you a business owner? Duke is a monopoly in Indiana, and nobody wants to be serviced by them. Someone start up a useful electric company and you'd have customers out the wazoo!

This company is trash and their service is the same. Cant keep the power on when it counts and take forever to get it fixed. Customer service is terrible as well, can never get a rep to answer the phone.
