Please go here before high priced pet shops. Adopt don't shop. So many of these furry babes need forever LOVING homes & lots of patience..so many of them had a rough life..it's heartbreaking. Very nice staff, also very caring, & the place is well kept & clean

I have adopted two dogs from this SPCA. Almost all of the staff is unpleasant and often times rude. I have been here a total of 5 times, twice for the first dog and three times for the second dog. Each time I have run into staff who have been very rude and frustrating, especially at the front desk. HOWEVER, Lacy has done enough to change my entire opinion and leave 5 stars. She is the nicest person in the SPCA and is understanding, not condescending, and truly listened to us and our situation. Our first dog from there has trouble making a good first impression and is a bit temperamental when he meets new dogs. He is slow to warm up but he eventually loves every dog he meets. She gave us a chance to prove it and listened to everything we said and was beyond helpful. Lacy is easily the best employee at the VBSPCA. Thank you for everything and you have made all the bad experiences worth it. Here is a picture of our two pups about 10 minutes after getting them home.

Disclaimer: I haven't gotten to adopt from here BUT can tell this is a great place. Awesome, clean, and set up with the animals in mind. I only wish the animals had a plain, clear, and visible sign saying "available" and "not available" since the color-coded system is a bit confusing. The first time we visited to adopt, none of the dogs we wanted we're actually available to adopt and others had stipulations (actually underandable since they don't want mispaired families). Overall its a really good place to get a variety of pets and pet supplies, just have to communicate with the staff to be clear on what is actually available.

Please save your family some heart ache and DO NOT adopt a heart worm positive dog until they opt to allow you to choose your own clinic. The Clinic is so unorganized. It started back in January for us, they said our dog was ready for adoption so we loaded up the car and drove to get him only to find out that the clinic still had to do a fecal exam. When we finally got to take him home we went over to make his heart worm injection appointment and were greeted by rude staff telling us they don't even make the appointment until after his medication was completed and we said yes we understand that here is the date that he will be completed and they said we needed to call about 2 weeks prior to the medication being over. The two week time frame came and low and behold the clinic is booked out for the next 3 weeks. We make the appointment he has his first injection, he comes home and we keep him crated up and awaiting his next appointment 23rd and 24th April per the appointment slip given to us by the clinic staff. When we adopted the dog we set up a new Vet at the Centerville Animal Hospital, we told her that he was heart worm positive and when we got his appointment scheduled, on the day of his appointment she called to see how he was doing, the day after she called to see how the night went and how he was doing and mid-week she called to see how he was doing. I have never heard from the SPCA clinic who administered the shot at all asking about his well-being or how he was. On the day of our appointment we took our dog to the clinic to be greeted with "I don't know why you brought him he doesn't have an appointment" to turn around and go home. It was the clinic staff's fault to not have scheduled him yet they did not take him or allow us to take him to another vet. All I ask is some process improvement get done about the staff at the front desk who are a direct reflection of the company. Due to their lack of leadership and organization I am worried of my dogs care for his remanding shots if the staff in the front office cannot master communication how is the rest of the organization running. I wouldn't have written this if I had not dealt with rude staff and several communication and organization flaws but this took the cake and I need someone higher up to see this what is going on!

Everyone is very professional and friendly. I have brought both of my cats here (on separate appointments) and the staff was gentle with them.
If I had to list any problems, I would say that the waiting room can get become crowded..but the girls at the front desk kept their cool when I was there and there were no problems. Hardly even worth mentioning!
