I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Protea Fire & Ice Hotel, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to provide exceptional service. They were always polite, friendly, and extremely helpful, making me feel welcomed and valued throughout my stay. One of the highlights of the hotel was definitely its impressive amenities. The rooms were beautifully designed and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and luxurious environment to unwind after a long day of exploring Cape Town. The best part was waking up to stunning views of Table Mountain, a sight that truly took my breath away. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Situated in a vibrant area, there were numerous great restaurants and cafes within walking distance. It was convenient to have such a variety of dining options nearby, allowing me to indulge in delicious meals without having to venture too far. While my overall experience was outstanding, I did encounter a minor issue regarding the food options. As a vegetarian who prefers Indian cuisine, I found that the hotel lacked suitable choices for my dietary preferences. The kitchen staff seemed unaware of the requirements and had difficulty accommodating my requests. I believe that the management should take this feedback into consideration and consider including Indian vegetarian options on their menu, as there are many guests from the Indian community who may have similar dietary needs. Despite this small setback, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Protea Fire & Ice Hotel to anyone planning a visit to Cape Town. It truly exceeded my expectations and provided me with the perfect base for exploring the city. I am grateful for the wonderful experience I had during my stay, and I believe that this hotel deserves recognition as the best stay in Cape Town for 2023. Rooms: Good
My recent stay at Protea Fire & Ice Hotel was absolutely fantastic! The staff at the hotel provided exceptional service and were always polite and very helpful. I was impressed by the hotel's amenities and the quality of the rooms. The location of the hotel was perfect, with many great restaurants and cafes nearby. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town. It was the perfect place for my first trip to the city, and I'm grateful for the wonderful experience I had there. This place should win best stay in Cape Town for 2023. They definitely got my vote!
We were scheduled to stay at another Protea property in Sea Point. They overbooked so we ended up at Fire & Ice instead. The property itself is quite nice with excellent views of Table Mountain. The staff were exceptional and the food in the restaurant was delicious. The downside is the property is located on a side alley with a film studio next door. Not many restaurants within walking distance. Didn't find any evidence of a grocery store nearby. Didn't feel comfortable venturing out after dark.
Went for lunch and the service was exceptional. The food was amazing and the music made the vibe even better. Had an amazing time and a lovely experience. Will be going back soon. Their cocktails and milkshakes are a must try. Food & drinks: Food was very well prepared and presentation was beautiful. The drinks were tasty as well.
Wonderful place locate in the scenic elevated escarpment. Tranquil environment complemented by excellent customer service from friendly and utterly humane staff members. Nearby activities: V&A waterfront offering wonderful shopping experience and mitchelin star restaurants, and many more. Walkability: Long Street with colourful activities, drinks, food and various entertainment arears was quite accessible. Food & drinks: The instant porridge isn't doing any justice to this great hotel. My advice is that you cook proper porridge from the start or you stick to other starchy alternatives.
I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. It's below par and thats putting it mildly, the staff is rude, non-responsive and highly inefficient. Im a frequent traveller with Gold membership on the Marriott Loyalty program, I've been to many Marriott hotels & this one is right there at the bottom of the pit compared to other Marriott facilities. If there was a negative rating, that is what i would give. Day 1, the shower had cold water only and I was ignored when I requested assistance. Day 2, the shower was not fixed but I called reception at least three times before they moved me to a different room which had NO WATER. The shower in the new room was faulty and had no water. I guess after so many calls and complaints to reception & the manager, they decided I don't deserve to shower at all. I checked out before my intended check out date. As an apology for their appalling treatment, I got free parking.
My partner and I had an amazing stay. The hotel provides clean rooms, good service all round and has very friendly staff! A special thanks to the front man Chris, to Robyn at the dining section, and Mr Chef who does the cooked breakfast, what a guy and you make the best eggs!! Thank you for making us feel at home!Rooms: 5/5
Great hotel. Breakfasts are amazing. Staff is very friendly and kind. Location is convenient. Crazy view of table mountain. Clean swimming pool. Only gripe is that the bathrooms aren't very soundproof. Safety: Don't walk around on the streets, take an Uber everywhere.
Spent new year at the fire and ice. The hotel is in the Cape Town Downtown area and the atmosphere is amazing. Just about name it and you’re within walking distance. Service was Terrific and the Room was 5 Star. Friendly staff. Clean hotel. The beautiful atmosphere inside and outside around that part of the city. The breakfast was good and Robyn the host of the restaurant is super helpful and amazing. Mthobosi at the bar is a superstar always. Tara at reception came through for us when we needed to change beds.
We visited Cape Town for a business trip with a larger group. Everybody enjoyed the stay in the hotel. The rooms are simple with everything you need and clean. The hotel bar was a great place to finish the day, not to mention Bassar the Eggspert creating not only tasteful but very entertaining breakfast as well. Thank you to the whole very nice and gentle team for a good week! Nearby activities: There are nice Bars and Restaurants just around the corner a few minutes to walk.
