We had our first experience here in one of the log cabins and were super impressive. Friendly staff, very clean facilities and the grounds are lovely. Excellent play area for the kids and an amazing swimming pool area. We loved the personal touches in the cabin and the little gift of popcorn and OBS. On our second visit we stayed in one of the glamping tents and we were impressed again. The tent is so awesome and well laid out. The kids were so excited with the bunk bed. Again, amazing personal touches and super clean. Will definitely be back again, love it!
Want to go away for a peaceful weekend to relax and unwind? I think not. It was anything but relaxing - all that could be heard was the screaming of children constantly. After being moaned at for our speaking too loudly, yet we were awoken both mornings by the absolutely unnecessary constant screaming of children running right past our camp sites at early hours of the morning - this is not okay. Camp sites are too close together and the noise policy is not clear - there are signs around that read different times and the owner says different? Also - very unnecessary with regards to guards wandering around at night constantly complaining and reprimanding for nothing when noise from other campsites can clearly be heard. this definitely needs some work - will not be recommending this as a camping adventure to anyone. With regards to the animals - the animals look under nourished and a few look unhealthy. Please could this be addressed as it was very unpleasant to see and was highly upsetting. One VERY unhappy camper.
Amazing family holiday destination with facilities and views that surpassed our expectations. Personal attention to detail that you only find in a family-owned and family-run resort like this. Already planning our next visit. I cannot imagine Glamping that is more comfortable, spacious and gorgeous than Mountain Splendour.Rooms: 5/5
What an incredible experience. On arrival we had the warmest greeting from the team and shown to our campsite where staff members helped us set up our campsite. Shortly afterwards we discovered we had left our awning at home, the staff were right there to help and for a very small price we managed to hire one. With the awe inspiring mountains as our view we were right at home. There is so much to do in the camp grounds with hiking & mountain biking trails, a beautiful pool area to cool off in, a games room with access to a TV to keep the sports updates rolling in, tennis courts and more. The area is teaming with things to do…some of the highlights were a hike around the Monks Cowl, a visit to the Drakensberg Brewery, lunch at Dragon Peaks, breakfast at The Valley Bakery, golf at Champagne Sports & sitting around the fire taking in the beautiful scenery Mountain Splendour has to offer. A massive thank you to Iain, Su, the family and the team for a really amazing time, we can’t wait to be back.
What a beautiful setting. Camping in a forest and ample playgrounds for kids. Felt like camping abroad as many nationalities were represented. A special touch was a visit from Santa on Christmas morning to hand out gifts to the little ones. The picture of the pool does not do it justice - indeed a spectacular piece of work. The only negative things were: Not as close to the mountains as we thought. The resort staff drive around way too much with the "V8" golfcart.
WOW.....we booked 2 glamping tents and a log cabin four our family of 8 adults and what a great venue. Spotless, great quality of cutlery and crockery and glassware. Great hot water pressure, possibly one of the best self catering outings we have ever stayed in. Lots out shade and sunny spots abound to curl up with a book. Family loved the pool, even in the rain. Staff were on point with daily cleaning services. On our list of return places for family vacaaas.
This is an amazing place to stay at. The hosts are very friendly and very welcoming. There are a lot of activities to do or just hiking and admiring the area. The restrooms are really nice and are cleaned frequently. I would really recommend this place!!
Mountain Splendour is one of the best campsites in SA! It is extremely well run, the bathrooms have recently been redone and are very well maintained. The campsites we stayed on were spacious with lots of shade. It is absolutely beautiful, there is lots to do in the resort and around the resort. Management went out of their way to make our stay work for us and we’re always friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat!
This place is a firm family favourite for us. We’ve stayed in “glamping” tents and more recently we stayed in the new permanent tent structures. It is honestly the best family oriented space to relax, rewind and connect around the fire. Bikes are a must. Braais and fires make it a real bonding time. We love the tennis and walks in the hills. The kids love the diverse playground and the animal farm is a hit.
Beautiful camp site views, clean ablutions nicely situated close to most sites. Can get very rowdy with kids and adults alike continuing till late hoursa reasonable curfew would be nice. Stunning heated pool area and the scones and tea/coffee is a nice touch. Play grounds need serious maintenance as some rides pose a injury risk. Would like to come again if better managed.
