The dishes were excellent, well composed and complex, and the service was attentive and reasonable despite the Jazz Fest crowd.
This is a 3/5 instead of 5/5 because our server was dismissive and ultimately quite rude regarding a bowl of gumbo my mother ordered. She loves her gumbo and tries it in every restaurant we go to. She passed the cup around the table for us all to try, and we all confirmed the sad truth: it bore the distinct taste of burnt roux. My mother is not the type to cause a fuss and ate most of it anyway (it is a very small cup). As the server collected it I noticed there was still some chicken at the bottom so I said I'd eat it - at that moment I noticed the chicken had no flavor, as if it had been thrown in just before it was served. I suspect we got the last spoonful of gumbo burnt at the bottom of the pot, and there was no chicken left so they cut some up and threw it in.
We told our server that the gumbo tasted burnt and he said he'd tell the chef, but no further gesture was made to ameliorate the gumbo situation. Among our ~$300 check, we noticed we had been charged for the $7.50 burnt gumbo. We made mention of this to the waiter and he said that we "shouldn't have eaten it" if it was burnt. Furthermore, he told us that we were wrong and that it was not burnt. This was rather aggressive and rude and unnecessary and demonstrates poor form in response to customer complaints. I will not recommend this restaurant over other restaurants that provide better, less arrogant service.

Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing chef. I can't say enough about the entire Brigtsen's experience. (Get the shrimp and butternut squash bisque too. You won't be sorry.) I have eaten here OFTEN and I have never had a bad experience. Delicious!!!

I went here with a group of girls and our meal and the service was absolutely fabulous!! I would say the prices were reasonable for what you get. All of our dishes were wonderful! Some of my favorites were the scallops, seafood platter, and pecan pie! They have a great selection of wine as well! I would definitely make a reservation if you plan on eating here. It’s a small, quaint space located in a shotgun house in uptown, New Orleans. I am a huge foodie and from New Orleans and I would definitely rate this as a new top favorite for me!!

Best restaurant in the city! Impeccable service. Creole cooking at its finest! Like dining with family (if your family has a Beard Award winner ;) )

Probably my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Chef Frank Brigsten is a genius. The food is always fabulous. Don't think I've ever had anything there that wasn't very good. The restaurant itself is old small house. Which means your table might be in a hallway or one of the small rooms. But its cozy and charming and you don't feel crowded. The service is superb and it's relatively quiet. DON'T miss the pecan pie. It truly is the best thing I've ever eaten in New Orleans
