If the Commander's Palace were a man, not a restaurant, I would marry it and thank my lucky stars every day for the rest of my life. What an incredible cultural treasure, all about treating people beautifully. What sumptuous and delicious food, what luxurious surroundings, but above all, what next-level gracious and elegantly humane service. The wait staff at the Commander's Palace have become my new gold standard of what it means to treat people well. And unfortunately...now that my standards have gone up, they can never go back down again! It's more than a meal. It's a chance to change your understanding of life.

Few restaurants live up to their hype. Commander's Palace does. The food is all fresh, farm to table....or Gulf to table...and cooked to perfection. I dined with a group of 7. Everyone of us was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail in the delicious meals that were served. I had the Blue Fin Tuna and it was exquisite!
From the moment we entered the front door until we reluctantly left after a leisurely, sumptuous dinner, the level of service was fantastic. I literally cannot offer one minute criticism.
Every member of our wait crew...and even other staff in and about the restaurant were very welcoming and warm and always focused on making sure our experience at Commander's Palace was spectacular.
From the elegant cocktails in the bar, to the great meal and very nice ambience in the dining room....through to our dessert and coffee, our experience was one that will linger...and certainly bring us back, when we are in New Orleans, again.

We enjoyed the meal, ambiance, and service. They offer Gluten Free options to those that are in need. I thought the food was well thought out and sometimes exciting in its preparation and delivery. They would often take every day meals and change them to make something new and fun.
I would say that they were very "relaxed" on their dress policy, and that was a little disappointing because we're paying for and expecting a nice venue. At one point, I saw a gentlemen walk through with workout pants and a running jacket...and this was during the dinner hour.

Commander's palace is nice dining spot in the Garden District. The look and feel of the restaurant is old worldly but I think this works in its favour. The servers were all great, however time waiting time in between dishes was a little on the slow side. The starter and entrees were quite nice, but what I really enjoyed was a cocktail called the Crescent City Cooler and their strawberry shortcake desert. Both of these are a must-try

Coming to visit from out of town, people told us we had to go here. The drinks we're good, has a wonderful ambiance, but thought the entrees were a little but of a let down. They were good, but nothing out of this world. I felt like cheaper local cuisine almost would have given a similar experience. Good food overall, glad we went, but wouldn't go again if we visited.
