The California Surf Museum is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization located in Oceanside, Calif.

Preserving our surfing heritage since 1986

Story

CSM was founded in 1986 and continues to be a leader among surfing museums, with cultural and informative rotating exhibits, wonderful events and a Museum Store filled with local and unique items. CSM exists with the support of donors, members, and other generous benefactors. If you would like to donate, please don't hesitate to contact us or visit surfmuseum.org. CSM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations to CSM are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS.

The California Surf Museum serves as an international repository and resource center on the lifestyle sport of surfing by capturing, preserving, and chronicling its art, culture and heritage for the education and enjoyment of current and future generations.

Highly recommend stopping in here! Really affordable and super interesting!! You don't have to be a surfer to enjoy this little museum, it's just a fun time! We spent 2.5 hours here!

Such a worthwhile museum to visit.  We visited during the China Beach exhibit. My grandpa was a Vietnam veteran and passed on his love of the ocean to me.  Going here was like being reintroduced to one of my greatest heros all over again. Thank you for putting together such a thoughtful unique experience.  
This is why we surf.

Super nice place to go. Really interesting stories and expositions. Nice gift shop too! Thursday is an awesome day to go since there's a very diverse street market going on.

I liked it. My gf not so much.  Lots of interesting history here however it is quite small.

Whether you a re a local or just visiting town, check it out. Great exhibits, vintage boards, friendly staff. Take your time as you go through.
