This is actually a really beautiful, secret little spot in Carlsbad. It was about Dusk and I didn't see any signs with there is an open parking lot to the right of that opening there. It's right next to this apartment complex but it seemed open to the public. The tide was so high at this point we couldn't go all the way down but I know that you could if you did want to have a beach day in a secluded area. This is the place and it's so beautiful at night. I could have stood there and just stared at the water for hours!

Friendly local beach with a few surfers almost always there. The waves are mostly pretty gentle. Its a bit of trudge down from the street, perhaps 60 feet of vertical on a dirt switch-back trail. No dogs, even on leash. Beach itself is almost flat.

Great spot in LEUCADIA. Carlsbad beaches are almost always over crowded, Moonlight is overcrowded. Small, but quiet. No cell service here AT ALL once down on the beach unless you're close to the water.

Excellent beach to show the variety of the south coast. Rocky shoreline and great sea wall of dirt covered in plant life. Very relaxing place to see the sunset!

Always liked this dark beach, particularly during crimson tide. Probably the best beach to go to alone to think or avoid crowds and noise.
This is the worst beach for children, strong undertow, no waves, lots of rocks and shells, high tide covers beach up to the cliff wall, and the long steep sandy staircase will have them whining both directions.
