Davidson River Campground

Nice peaceful campground set next to the rushing Davidson River. There are so many relaxing activity's within the area. Ride your bike throughout the campgrounds, hike within Pisgah National Forest, fish or head to the river with your tube to lazily float down. This campground sets you back into the forest without being too far from the conveniences of the city. The restrooms are adequate, not fancy but hey you're camping! Each spot has its own fire ring and paved pad for your cars. If you have visitors they can park in the over flow parking.

I’m so glad I chose this spot for my first camping trip. It was safe, clean and easy access. Next time I will chose to not stay by the river as the river runs by the highway that’s up there. It wasn’t the quietest evening which I was hoping for. Restrooms were as clean as outdoor restrooms can be. This is definitely as favorite spot for me.

It pays to make reservations here. We showed up Thursday afternoon hoping to stay for two nights. There were only two sites available for Thursday and none for Friday because they had all been reserved. Apparently a couple of the loops were closed for repair which made things extra tight. Other than that, it was a nice place to stay.

This is a semi "primitive" campground on a grand scale. THIS IS A GATED CAMPGROUND...Yes most of the sites DO NOT have water or electric hookups. Potable water is available in convenient areas through out the campground as well as shower and bathroom facilities. The great thing about this campground is it is paved through out. All sites are level and will accommodate tents or RV's. Heavy duty picnic tables, fire rings/cooking grill, and lantern post at every site. Some sites are available with elect, water and sewer but you should check ahead for availability. Campground is usually full during summer months, especially on weekends and holidays...Remember this is a semi primitive campground but the facilities are well maintained and clean. Great for families with children. There are lots of things to do and discover here, hiking and mountain biking trails abound. Also the campground is bordered by the clean and cold Davidson River so bring your swim suites.... Groceries, shopping, restaurants, river tubes and mountain bike rentals only a short 2 to 3 mile drive away. Fire wood is usually available for purchase at the gate.

We always have a good time when we go there. Bathrooms are clean and it's a quiet peaceful Campground with awesome River to tube.
