Escambia County Animal Shelter

We had a great experience here yesterday! I had done some looking around on the website in order to choose a few dogs I’d like to meet before going in for a visit. I had 3 particular in mind, but of course I went up and down the room anyway to see every sweet face. The sweet girl I was really hoping to meet was still there and available for adoption, so I went in and asked to spend some time with her. They immediately brought her out to the very spacious doggy run area for us to meet her. It was instant love! We met a couple other dogs before setting our decision in stone, but ultimately came back to our girl. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful during our entire visit, and the adoption process was quick and painless. Our girl “Maggie” (formerly known as “Maxine”) is an absolutely amazing addition to our family! She’s seriously such a love bug! We couldn’t be happier with how everything went and ultimately turned out. Our hearts are even happier knowing she’s a rescue.

They recently renovated and remodeled making the place so much nicer and inviting. They have a cat play room and outdoor areas for the dogs to play. Animal shots are up to date and test are done before adoption. Got my kitten from here and couldn't have been happier.

They do an awesome job taking care of the animals here. Thank you all the volunteers for your help!! I really like the paint job and update on the shelter.Looks great! The play areas for the animals when people come to see them and can take them out is nice.The only thing I wish was different is the cost for adoption. With all the fees it is a little bit expensive, especially if your on a fixed income like me but I also understand running this type of facility probably isnt cheap either.Id like to see more adoption events and ways the community could get involved.

Had to have an old friend put to sleep. The compassionate staff explained the process. My vet wanted $250 but they took care of it for me for $25. It was a big relief to know she was going to be well taken care of. This is a difficult thing when you have so much invested. Putting your pet to sleep is something you remember for a long time. These people made me much more comfortable.

We helped a cat in need. She was abandoned in our apartment complex and wanted her to have a chance at life. These people are rude and unprofessional. They act like they don't care. You work in an environment where you should be positive, but that's not the case. I question the integrity and professionalism of this business. Hire better people!
