Houston This Is It Soul Food

I've been a long time supporter of the business, the days on grey was its best. Everything was good & it was the place to be. Now I randomly stop by to eat & the food is hit or miss. Oxtails on my last visit were not good at all. I'm thinking the cooks switch or something during the week because the food I got didn't match some of the review I've read. I got the ribs today to try something different they were good , now the rice & sides needs some work but ok meal today. I will continue to support the business. I just think they need to travel back in time & get back to their old ways of cooking. Historic Spot in Houston.

First time trying This Is It, although this Houston food institution has been around for years. Very tasty fried chicken, pinto beans and creamy mac and cheese. Good, friendly service - typical atmosphere for soul food restaurant. Recommended.

I had the smothered pork chops. They hooked me up! Fork tender chops with sides of Mac and cheese, cabbage, and cajun corn. Easy to see why they are the best! Check out the photos of their awards in my post.

Came here today for my lunch and everything was fresh and hot. Today was My first time trying “This is it” & im beyond pleased. The macaroni is the best, green beans are great & the dirty rice is okay (could be better) & the Catfish reminds me of back home (Louisiana). They also have nice parking. Don’t forget to try the chocolate cake. Overall, I will come here again for my lunch.

OMG it was so good. The portions are quite ample really enough for 2 people with an average appetite. The staff was very nice and attentive. I will definitely be going back. You get 1 meat and 3 sides. 6 or 7 choices of meat to choose from made it a hard decision. There was a variety of sides to chose from as well. The meal also came with 2 cornbread muffins. I always drink water so I don't know if a drink came with the meal or not. I'm not sure about the prices either because I was someone's guest. Oh and they have a variety of desserts as well. I definitely recommend this place because THIS IS IT!!!
