Was a beautiful place to visit and the shut-ins themselves were spectacular. Camp store was only a short bike ride away and the shower house was very close as well. Each shower and toilet had it's own lockable room as well, which is very nice and different from other parks I've stayed at. Only downside was the actually shape and size of our campsite. The only flat part was a large concrete slab and the rest, which was grass, was all on a hill, so it made my camping area seem rather small and unusable. Other campsites seemed alright though, so it isn't a huge issue.

The best way I can describe it is an amazing all-natural water park! Went here to go swimming and it was some of the most fun ever! The water is a gorgeous blue, and the river has carved natural water slides through the rocks. There is usually quite a bit of traffic here however. So not the best place for a quiet getaway.

My family goes here for New Year's. The State Park is Free. The cabins were affordable but are dry cabins. The showers were great with individual shower unit rooms with own separate entrance. They had a stool and curtain. When we went it was not busy the shower house only had three showers and three individual restrooms. It was a very short walk from our cabin. It is all connected with parking lot. They have a handicap cabin too.

Johnson Shut-Ins is a phenomenal experience. Word of warning however, be careful in the actual shut-ins, but more on that later. When you first get there I strongly suggest going to the visitor center on the right. It has quite a few informative exhibits and a nice little shop and what not. Further along at the entrance to the trail and swimming areas there is another little shop with food items and trinkets along with a changing area and bathrooms.
The swimming area is very nice. The shut-ins are wonderful to explore with all their shutes and pools; be wary however of sudden deep pools with undertow, slippery rocks, and rocks hidden by the bubbles of the current.
The trail is also neat to explore. It starts with some very steep switchbacks then leads to a straight stretch that follows the creek for a bit. If memory serves after you leave the creek side you can either keep on the same trail or start on the ozark trail. If you stay on the trail though after just a little bit you'll find a couple of little waterfalls that are pretty.

Park was nice, we went before the summer season opened so a lot of things weren't happening yet but on the plus side it wasn't busy. Great location for day trips. We stayed in cabin 2, loved it. We hiked the blue trail at the park while the water was flowing and just after a controlled burn. Couldn't ask for more
