I absolutely adore this park and the trails. There's a quick two mile hike (green path, begins at evergreen lot) that you can do if you want to get a quick nature walk. Then there's a more moderate hike (blue path, begins at evergreen lot) that is 5.8 miles and is the perfect challenge for any given day. The blue is more challenging on the way to the bathrooms, and is mainly a downhill breeze on the way back with just a few big hills to raise your heart rate. The place is very well kept. Trails are easily marked. Lots of sunny spots and shady spots to give a nice mix. There's always tons of birds, herons, geese, and deer making their presence known. My dog absolutely loves going here. Definitely worth dropping by.

Urban park-feel. Lots of people. Can be difficult to park on weekends (usually lots of events). Extensive trail system. Good for running. Usually staffed entrance station (you must have an annual State Park sticker or pay the daily use fee).

Wish I could give this 0 stars!!!! Me and my boyfriend were playing Pokémon go in the park tonight when the manager of the park, yes I repeat OWNER OF THE PARK approached us and starts immediately harrasing us calling us swoofers which is a term used for cheaters in the game. He starts sayin he’s going to report our user names for cheating and demanding to see our telephones to make sure we don’t have this app that is used to do the cheating “swofing”. We’ve nver even seen this guy before an he didn’t know if we were the ones he was looking for, and we weren’t. But he didn’t hesitate to be nothing but unprofessional and harsss us over a game.. I hope that if anyone ever does visit here that they don’t have to ever interact with this man who could make a simple visitor feel so harassed and insulted.

From the winding prairie trails to the west, to the evergreen grove to the east; Kettle Moraine State Forest Lapham Peak Unit is an absolute adventure! There is an abundance of bird wildlife with woodpeckers, cardinals, Cooper's and red-tailed hawks, a few turkey vultures, sandhill cranes, and many more! I couldn't locate any larger mammals such as coyote or whitetail deer, but there were tracks that I found. The trails in the evergreen grove are extremely wide, as they allow DNR vehicle traffic thru when needed. Ultimately, at 1,233 feet above sea level (a few hundred feet above immediate ground) is a surreal view atop the watchtower. All in all, I'm extremely excited to get back and take more photos when there is a greater presence of wildlife!

Absolutely beautiful place. I don't get out here as often as I should, but I'm very blessed to live just 10 minutes from this gorgeous forest.
