Old Southern BBQ - Hudson

This place was started by the same guy who started Famous Dave’s, and you can definitely see some similarities... a couple of the sauces taste pretty close to the ones you find at Famous Dave’s. The food here is pretty darn tasty... I had brisket and mac ‘n cheese. The brisket wasn’t as tender as I would have liked, but it had great flavor! My husband had his service dog with him when we visited, and the employees were very kind. We were even offered water for the dog, which was greatly appreciated.

This is an old school BBQ joint that is definitely worth the stop. We tried several different items from the menu and ALL were outstanding. Great ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage. You GOTTA try the brisket chili. Incredible flavor and just enough spice to make it interesting. Also, after dinner that comes with a muffin top, yes, JUST THE TOP, the best part of a corn bread muffin, we had to take a dozen more home with us. The best thing about this place is, there isn't one in the town we're from. We would eat there WAY too often and wouldn't have a good excuse to make a trip to Hudson on a regular basis.

Loved the meal on our first visit. Pulled pork sandwich delicious and loaded with meat. Beans were the best I've had in a long time. Cole slaw very tasty too...had a hint of apple flavor. Will definitely be stopping in again when we are in the area.

Mixed results...solid bbq that is southern style...on par with some of the best I've had in Texas. Service has been consistently very slow. Torn between good food and waiting 30 minutes for takeout.

Nice, rustic atmosphere.Authentic style bbq, i.e., rib meat DOES NOT fall off the bone (a sure sign of overcooking). Great smokey flavor with bold seasoning. Only negative was the beef brisket. I've had it 4 or 5 times and once it was too fatty, and another time it was a bit dry.
