Always been one of my favorite places. Excellent food and waitstaff. Comfy atmosphere. Cajun battered cheese curds and onion rings are the best in Wisconsin. Really good ribs and chicken but I order the Cajun catfish every time.

I recently went here for my anniversary. The place was well lit and and busy. The staff was friendly, fast, and eager to answer questions about the menu. My bf and I tried a couple of different dishes and shared them with each other. Each of the dishes came with fresh and vibrant salads, though we could have opted to choose the salad bar. The ribs were well smoked, tender, moist, and meaty with generous portions. The decor was interesting and not standard for restaurants. The historical memorabilia seems to indicate that the person who started the restaurant was with a fire department. Maybe that's where the smoke control came from! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I didn't enjoy the sauces. In hindsight, I wish I'd sampled the different sauces before choosing the one I wanted on my meal. Sauces are so important with ribs.

The Cajun cheese curds didn't have a "Cajun" flavor. Also, I know cheese curds are deep fried, but these were beyond greasy. So greasy, the breading was falling off, and some of the cheese had disappeared.
Disappointing there were only two bbq sauce options. I've been to many BBQ places in the South, and they always have more than two options.
I ordered the "all you can eat" ribs. The first order was phenomenal. Lots of meat on the bone, and tender.
The reorders were pitiful. They had to of been a different batch of ribs or leftovers from the day prior. They barely had any meat on the bone, and they were crisp and very tough to eat.
Also, the sever progressively got slower and slower with each reorder. The place wasn't even busy.
The coleslaw was some of the worst I've ever had. Usually coleslaw has a sweet flavor or a vinegar flavor. It just tasted like pepper.

Highly disappointed. Restaurant closed over an hour early on a busy Saturday night, because the employees are not skilled enough to drive when there is 1/4 of snow on the ground. For an establishment that is begging for customer's, denying service to regulars who order almost weekly is a disgrace. We live in WI, it's February, if employees cannot drive in the snow, I suggest they find a new state to reside. When i asked to speak to a manager the phone was passed to another employee, who claimed to be the owner. The "owner" was less then polite or professional. No apologies, just a condescending attitude. When asked why you would close over an hour early due to 1/4 inch of snow, she said because he staff was to young to drive.. then obviously the staff is to young to be servers or work in a kitchen, per the law. Perhaps a state inspection/audit is needed, since I've seen these servers, bring alcohol to guests. We have given this restaurant to many second chances. First was because of the quality of products and now lack of professionalism. The current owners are far from adequate at running a successful restaurant.

Truth be told I've been here a number of times and only ever gotten the ribs and chicken special...because it's amazing. Good food, friendly waitstaff, home town charm, and a great value. I will be back.
