You won't find anyone BETTER! They are truly passionate about what they do and how they serve their clients. I went to there other locations prior to giving my business to PC-MAX. Don't be fooled by the other guys these guys are the best in town and know what they are doing and are fairly priced for the superb services they continue to provide. Signed off one satisfied happy client! Thanks PC Max for all that you do and for helping me resolve my computer needs in a timely manner.

I've gone to this shop twice now for them to help with my computers, and I have been very happy with the experience. They have great/efficient customer service, find out whats wrong with your tech and give advice. What I liked about them the most is that I feel I can trust them. It was apparent that these guys aren't just out to get your money. They don't even charge a diagnostic fee, which is great cuz I know some who would charge you $100 just to look.

Employee, "Walker," is dishonest. I have evidence that he:
1) tried to swindle me out of money by upgrading & selling me hardware I neither approved nor even knew about;
2) installed a completely different OS (!) on my computer than what was promised and agreed;
3) completed (not even all of) the work several days later than promised -- and only after repeat follow-ups.
After dropoff, "Walker" called me a few days later to tell me prices for the parts, which I noted. One of those, I chose to get myself and have it shipped to their store (in 3 days), because the one he'd eBay'd was exorbitant AND would've taken weeks to arrive (from China).
He asked if I wanted them to replace the hard drive while awaiting that part, and I said YES.
This is important. I run a business. There's a certain type of work I can ONLY do on this computer, so I based our acceptance of a new project around when I estimated I'd have the computer back.
I called THREE BUSINESS DAYS AFTER THE PART ARRIVED at their shop to check on the status of the repair, and -- solely based on my voicemail left the evening before -- Walker says they're "backing up the hard drive now" and "ABOUT TO START" the work.
??
When I reminded him that he said he'd replace it last week, so only the new part would have to be done once that arrived, he said he'd had "a lot of dropoffs last week" and "wasn't able to get to it."
Okay, but you asked ME if I preferred that. Why should work that came *after* this affect when my work was done?
Strike 1.
Backing up, when we'd gon to drop off my laptop, I'd told "Walker" that I had Windows XP or 7 on it, making SURE he knew, because I wanted THE SAME OS installed. But when I picked it up, the interface was COMPLETELY different.
HE'D INSTALLED WINDOWS 10 without asking!
If you know Windows, you know they RADICALLY OVERHAULED the look of the system when upgrading from Win7.
When I said I didn't even know how to work this new interface, he happily says, "We upgrade all customers to Windows 10!" If I hadn't already gotten my computer back days late and wasn't rushing to meet a deadline, I would've definitely had him install Win7 Pro as initially specified.
Why would you change a client's OS without approval?
And why NOT mention this at all on drop-off DURING the conversation about operating systems?
Strike 2.
When I go to pay, he quotes me $40.00 HIGHER than the phone quote with no justification, so before giving him my card, I ask why.
All numbers he then quotes are the same, EXCEPT the hard drive is now mysteriously $49.99.
???
No. I reminded him that what he quoted by phone was definitely less, and after reviewing my notes for exact numbers, I tell him the hard drive was only $29.
He replies only, "I have it in your notes in our system here that it's $49.99." His "data entry mistake"? Not my problem.
I tell him again that he *quoted* me $29, offering TO PLAY THE RECORDING (of the call) for him.
He gives a flippant reply, and offers to "lower it" without asking to review the call.
When the new total still seems high, I ask to see the screen again. HE HAD ONLY "LOWERED" THE HARD DRIVE PRICE by $10.
I tell him -- AGAIN -- the quoted amount, then just PLAY THE RECORDING where he itemizes all parts and labor.
Once he hears HIS OWN VOICE saying that the hard drive is $29... he looks miffed, SIGHS HEAVILY, and then changes the price again.
Looking at the screen again, it's still not right!
Dude, come on. I just played this guy a recording where he says precisely TWENTY-NINE DOLLARS. I can't believe he's still conning like I'm trying to weasel out a discount instead of just wanting the exact price quoted.
He finally corrects it; I pay and leave.
After work, the receipt revealed the price difference was because HE'D TRIED TO TACK ON A DIFFERENT, LARGER HARD DRIVE without my consent. Wow!
Strike 3.
Finally, one of the TWO repair issues I went there for -- a power port tightening -- was not even handled, despite multiple convos about it.
Strike 4!
I'm also filing a report with the BBB and the FTC. Buyer beware.

Went to this place based on google reviews, it did not disappoint. Instead of trying to take my money, these guys just told me I needed to update the bios on my laptop, and it worked! I will definitely return to this place if I need to in the future. Highly recommend!

They were fast, efficient and did the correctly.
I took my computer in to have it transferred to a new case. I could do the job myself but didn't want to spend my time off doing something so menial so I dropped it off at PC Max.
A day later the job was done. The cable management was flawless! I was very happy with the job they did and the staff was polite and friendly.
This place isn't too expensive but is more expensive than a couple of other places, but there's a reason why it's the cheapest shop in Raleigh with 5 stars. They are fast and the customer service is worth it!
