Providence Canyon is my family’s go to park for a day of exploring and adventure and an easy 45 minutes or so ride from Columbus, GA. Each time we go, we see something new and venture down a new path. The initial path into the canyon is somewhat of a steep 1/4 mile. Once in the canyon area, some of the paths continue over and past the canyons. If your bringing kids, pack a change of clothes and be sure to let them run through the small creek that is in the bottom of the canyon. Old shoes are recommended. Plenty of nice picnic spots along the upper/outer rim area. Arrive early on the weekends in order to get a decent parking spot. Parking gets creative on days with great weather and I’ve seen it backed up from the main office to the gate entrance. Dog friendly and plenty of geocache sites.

This is a gorgeous hike, easy and relaxing and scenic. A true canyon, the walls are probably 100 feet high in parts, displaying lovely color and shapes. Don't climb on them though! Just soak in the vibe. Best visited in springtime.

What a gem! Have been going thru Atlanta 20 years and didn't know how close it is. If you have a few hours a great place to go hike. Just beautiful. Look it up!

As a park ranger I've had the opportunity to see and work some really cool parks, but Providence Canyon is one of the few to take my breath away. It's a spectacular sight considering it was formed through poor agricultural practices that led to erosion. Highly recommend visiting!

Hiked the white blazed trail into the canyon floor- leaves from behind the Visitor Center and then spent 2 hours exploring each of the 9 canyons. Highly recommend waterproof hiking shoes to avoid wet feet as the canyon floor is filled with stream beds. Ranks as one of our top Southern hikes!
