Red Roof Inn Lansing East - Michigan State University

I made a reservation here and then looked at the Google reviews afterwards. I got a little tried to change my reservation to the other one in town but could not. As it turned out, the reviews were unfair. The place was very clean, the Landscaping was good, the lighting was excellent, the lobby was spotless, the staff was beyond friendly, and my room was very clean and nice. I did a thorough bed bug check and did not find any signs of any ever having been in the room. The bed was very comfortable and I would stay there again.

The house keeping stole our valuables. The police had to be called. The management did not handle the situation well and our trip was ruined. It was a nightmare! Also, may as well say it because I'm here anyways posting this to protect people, the rooms are dirty, the beds are horrible, there is often loud partying at night. I have stayed at this Red Roof Inn once a year for over 10 years for business. To save $ I can deal with the less than desirable conditions, BUT I WILL NOT STAY AT A HOTEL THAT SUPPORTS A STAFF OF THEIVES.

It's alright. Kind of overpriced due to room smelling of 10+ year-old cigarette smoke. Pillows are horrible. If I didn't have a non-refundable reservation, I would've left. Parking was atrocious as they have steel cargo containers lined up around the perimeter of their parking lot (for what?) If you have a truck, get a room facing the road. I had to park in a dark, unmonitored area next to the maintenance shack and get up every few hours to make sure the truck was still there. Let me be clear: the clientele at this place is a grab bag of personalities best suited for a frat house.

A bit lower quality than other Red Roofs I've stayed in. I stayed for 5 days and they didn't clean the room each day. They flipped the covers back up to kinda make the bed, replaced towels, and made sure I had new consumables like soap and cups. Other than that, they did nothing. As for the room itself, the door mechanisms were sticky requiring me to slam the for when leaving and the tub in the shower didn't drain properly (there were several inches of standing water in it after a 5 minute shower). The heater worked nicely, but at one point it was a bit warm, so I turned on the AC and it smelled strongly of urine for some reason. Aesthetically it was decent with new paint on the walls, but there was a spot where someone has punched a hole in it. Other than that, it was a typical red roof inn. I wasn't dissatisfied with the room, as it died of minimal needs, but I was definitely not impressed either.

Not bad. The front desk is very gracious- across all shifts. The room was, overall, pretty nice. Clean and in a nice area.
