I visited Star of Siam with 5 other co workers, all with very different tastes. We all really enjoyed our meals, so much so we ended up eating family style and sharing all the dishes. The atmosphere was very authentic as well. I have visited Thailand, and I will say that the meals here are not only very authentic, but very well made. Our serving sizes were impressive for the price as well. Finally our server could not have been friendlier, even considering splitting the check 6 ways and confusing her by ordering additional dishes throughout our meal. I will be back when in Chicago next.

Sadly, the food is mediocre. I have been a Thai food lover since childhood just like my family. We have tried many Thai restaurants not in the US, in many other countries as well; including Thailand. But, the food doesn't taste that great at all. Believe me, I have tried to love their food after reading the amazing reviews, but failed to like it at all. I thought maybe something is wrong with me, but nope! Even the Thai food place around the corner from my house does a better job than them. I am surprised that they even got on critics choice. How? The environment of the restaurant is amazing though! Staff is just ok. If you are super hungry, on a budget, and in the neighborhood, then I would recommend this place.

Crab spring roll is not crab, it’s imitation crab. There is a significant difference especially when the roll is crab, greens and bean sprouts. There was basil too but there was no flavor detected and the greens were bland. We are vegetarian and ordered # 14 the mixed vegetables. The seasoning were weak and the vegetables were bland; poor quality. They are cook correctly and were crispy. I would have preferred more seasonings so that the fish sauce was not so obvious. I think fish sauce adds a lot in the mix but not pleasant by itself. Would not recommend nor will I visit again.

Delicious thai food. I love all the different sauces on the table. Will definitely go back. Ambiance is nice too.

My families dinner at Star of Siam was a completely horrible experience. To start the night off we had a couple appetizers. We had the Chicken Satay, which was cold and bland. The only dish that we found appetizing was Tom Kha Soup. After this, we ordered our entrees. We placed our order around 7:30. Our dishes came in around 8:15 after constant pleading. We were starving and to top of the night, the food was horrible as well. I ordered the Pad Thai, and it was literally steamed rice noodles, egg, veggies, and chicken. The noodles are usually fried, but they were only steamed. This gave me an idea that they forgot about our orders. After all this, the staff gave us “complimentary” spring rolls as an apology for their service. The spring rolls were horrible as well. There was no veggies inside the spring rolls at all. The were cold and it seemed like they were sitting there for hours. This was one of the worst dining experience I have ever had.
