This is my favorite bar in Chicago!
It has a very relaxed atmosphere. Only one TV in the bar which almost always has the sound off. The employees are really friendly, and the owner has read and can talk about all the books that line the walls. This is a great bar for a date or just to read a book. It is very quite and relaxed with a fantastic whisky selection. I highly recommend it!

The atmosphere is my favorite part of this pub. It's got bookshelves and books on the upper level, and a fireplace, with dark wood tones and warm lighting. It's very homey. I love to come here for a casual, relaxing bar experience. They have a large selection of drinks available, including a few ciders of which I am a fan of, and a restaurant sized menu for food and dining. Food is a little pricey, but it doesn't altogether matter to me because I don't go there for the food. The bartenders are friendly, and may be willing to give you a walk through of the alcohol available if you ask!

Very interesting location I love the the fusion of library and bar and anglophilia,. Ghost tour the ghost tour starts there I believe. The drinks are great however you have to know it's more of a whiskey bar so they don't have like everything, but at least the bartender that was there when I was there works really well with you to find something you like. The Manhattan that one person had was delicious the wine the wine was delicious. The Baileys Irish Cream was delicious.

Great food and an amazing atmosphere. Very friendly staff. A library with a fun theme, drinks and food. Great place to socialize as the music and sounds are not too loud and overpowering. The beer selection is also as good as their whiskey selection. A lot of history displayed throughout the place using pictures.

The Red Lion superbly maintains my two favorite pub traditions: excellent ales and the art of conversation. Whether listening to the owner, staff, or guests, you can always enjoy hearing interesting conversations which often invite others to participate and share. In particular, the upstairs is an ideal setting for group discussions: it is cozy and quiet, and has been very hospitable to my/our Philosophy groups.
