The Red Ox Seafood and Steakhouse

Excellent food. Great appetizers. Very pleasant waitress. Great Old Fashions. Clean. What more could you ask for? We stopped on a whim. We had never been there before and we will definitely go back. Nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends!

Very good food, drinks, appetizers, desserts, and service. I have been here many times and always happy. I typically have appetizers and drinks in the bar and sometimes a dessert. I do think the menu meals are a bit pricey but very good. I was there one time and my credit card was run twice by mistake. When I contacted John the owner not only did he apologize and refund the extra charge he even gave me a additional gift card for a future visit. That really impressed me. I see him as a old school businessman that takes care of the rare issue rather than ignoring it or sugar coating it.

Nice staff. Ordered the Chicken Marsala. Rubbery chicken, no flavor at all let alone no taste of the wine, ergo Marsala. Hubby ordered the fried haddock and said it was fantastic. An upscale restaurant like this needs to taste their own food. Don't charge 18 bucks for tasteless chicken thinking you can stand just on your steaks and seafood.

Very good food. Very good service. Decor could use an update, to get out of the 80's. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity of food. Menu could be optimized a little. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The breaded fish was good, the steak was meh. The atmosphere is relaxed, and they have a nice little bar. At its heart, this is pub food. If they were listed as a pub, I'd give them 4 stars. But they claim to have the best steak North of Milwaukee. The shrimp was overcooked. The steak was just ok, and it was their NY Strip special. I did try a bite of my friends jalapeno battered halibut. and it was tasty, though the batter was as thick as the fish. They make a decent Old Fashioned, and the cauliflower appetizer was surprisingly good! I would go for a drink and an appetizer, but I would not care to have steak or seafood there again.
