I went to emergency with a crashed foot. The help I received was fast, professional, personal and sympathetic. As I am not from Stellenbosch I opted not to be admitted after my x-rays etc. as the hospital is far from my family but I know if I had I would have got excellent treatment and care. Thank you everyone who helped me.
I went to emergency unit last night before 10 pm with excruciating pain literally unable to walk with what seems to be a miscarriage or passing of kidney stones in severe pain. It took them an hour just to do observations and another hour to get me to a bed to which no doctor attended to me I ended up walking out of there after almost 3 hours. My question is if this is the emergency unit why are people not being attended to as such. Nobody comes to an emergency unit unless whatever they are dealing with does not require immediate attention. I am shocked by the level of service I've received compared to the state hospitals I've been to in my life. This service is not why people pay medical aid I'm traumatized and disgusted by Mediclinic Stellenboch.
I had the misfortune of a possible snake bite and went to the emergency department to get it checked out. My experience was really excellent. Registered and triaged quickly and then the doctor examined my puncture wounds and other info and was able to assure me it wasn't a snake bite - and then took the time to explain the types of snake bites and venoms in S Africa and how he'd been able to make a clear diagnosis. I couldn't have asked for any more. Excellent.
Great facility and very neat and clean. Most of your emergency, ordinary and specialst medical needs available. A cafeteria cater for light meals and refreshments. The facility is new and very pleasant to visit. There is no reason to prevent a visit to Stellenbosch mediclinic.
Unfortunately I have had to experience numerous, concerning and extremely dissapointing service from Mediclinic Stellenbosch. Particularly the service received from ALL STAFF at the Emergency unit. As we reside in close proximity to the hospital, it would be the obvious choice when faced with an emergency...However, this evening 02/01/2023 at 21h30 I had to once again experience the lack of quality service when entering the emergency unit and as a result, left and proceeded to BUSAMED which was +/- 20mins further. Mediclinic Stellenbosch...you have much to learn from BUSAMED Somerset West!! Furthermore, Mediclinic Head Office....you can refrain from sending an automaticed reply as with all other poor reviews. To all other patients...if you can...pass this hospital, as your emergency will certainly NOT be treated as such when entering their premises.
Mediclinic Stellenbosch. Sprained my foot quite bad. Went to emergencies. Got admitted. When it came to having the X-rays taken I was informed that my medical would not pay for it. I told them that is completely fine I will pay with my card. After the X-ray's were done I was wheeled in the corridor and parked right outside the X-ray room. I was told that they are first going to look for a card machine. Basically I felt like I was being held hostage. It took them 30min to find a card machine and after I paid the bill only then did they wheel me back to the examination bed. Paying R4000 a month for medical aid I would like to be treated with respect and not like a piece of meat or a skelm. Rather travel to another hospital if the situation permits.
This was the worst medical service that I had ever received. I have insurance and they made me wait 3 hours to get treated, the doctor had a severe attitude with me, and she lacked the necessary medical equipment. I went in for a sore throat and they refused to give me the antibiotics because it "didn't look that bad". I am now sick with a terrible fever, blocked nose, and inflamed throat because they did not give me the necessary prescriptions. I would not recommend this service to anyone. I am utterly disappointed. I have exams to write and they refused to give me the treatment that I deserved. This was the service of a public hospital, yet I paid with medical aid. Disgusting.
I was here on the 23 of September for an ultrasound. The staff were kind and compassionate, and the radiologist was professional and really put my mind at ease
Had to go in for an emergency op. They were expecting me after another hospital called ahead, so the check-in was relatively smooth. But I still think that process takes too long, even with your details on the system. All went well and the care of the staff during the recovery days were fantastic, and the place was kept clean. Staff were generally quick to respond to the nurses call and other qurries and never got irritated despite a call button that seemed to activate itself randomly. Food was top notch for a hospital. If you need to have a planned procedure done and need aftercare, I can certainly recommend them!
The waiting time to receive treatment at this emergency unit is absolutely ridiculous. The admin went fast, so did the nurse analysis, but we waited forever just to actually see the doctor for treatment. We were the only people when entering the emergency unit, and while waiting for a doctor, three more patients came to the waiting area.
