This is the ONLY place to go when you need a nice, clean and AFFORDABLE vehicle to rent! Omar has gone out of his way in multiple occasions to ensure I'm happy and that I have exactly what I need. They never have hidden fees like so many other companies do and the best part is how fast they get you in and on your way! Trustworthy, friendly, reliable and courteous service is hard to find within companies but this is exactly what you get here! Omar has mastered it!

It took about 5 minutes to pick up my car, 3 minutes to return it - so fast and easy! Omar was very nice & answered all my questions. The car was next to spotless when I picked it up, great condition and the newest car I’ve ever driven! I will use Avis again, including this Topeka location!

Had a terrible and the most unprofessional experience with Hassan (or that's what he said his name is, but all reviews seem to name Omar, anyway, he's about 6 foot tall, probably in his 40s or 50s, skinny and dark and bald guy, the customers and the corporate will know who) the day before we were supposed to leave and less than an hour before their closing time (and the time when we had scheduled pickup). We went with Avis in Topeka only because kayak dot com had suggested it.
He used “company policy” as an excuse to cancel our car rental reservation the last minute, which was reserved for four days (even after talking to me over the phone and my girlfriend who was there in person). While I tried to explain it to him over the phone that it was impossible for me to get to Topeka from Lawrence by closing time (with less than 40 minutes left) and we can either do this first thing tomorrow morning at 7 AM otherwise it’ll be 10-15 minutes after closing time. I found out later even then there was no guarantee he would have rented because he would have come up with more excuses just to mess with us (more on that later). His tone and attitude changed after he talked to me over the phone and he was coming up with more and more excuses or ways not to rent a reserved car! He even refused to check with the Lawrence location to see if they have a similar car and they would honor our reservation (so that I can rent it asap in Lawrence). The whole time he was talking to my girlfriend in person he was basically saying she is screwed because he won’t (yes, more like won’t and not can’t) rent a car that was reserved for four days, the day before the trip and an hour before closing time, and as if that’s not bad enough, he was enjoying this process while he had his hands folded and a disgusting grin on him and making her very uncomfortable during the whole process, and this is coming from a lady (and her friend who was with her) who works and manages a customer service company in Topeka that’s worth a million dollars!
It's one thing to not work with the customer to come up solutions or not apologize for mistakes or screw ups or to even be a bit rude or even say they don't want to do business (without a valid reason, especially after making a reservation), or even to cancel your reservation because the guy is childish and unprofessional, but to be so disrespectful to a lady and make her feel uncomfortable is appalling and disgusting! Keep this up and your company will be sued one day (if you haven’t already) by someone who doesn’t mind fighting for the right cause. Hassan (or is he Omar)’s behavior was like that of Joker from The Dark Knight quoted by Alfred as “some men just want to watch the world burn” and all we could do was walk away disgusted with this experience because there are several other businesses and any more time and effort spent on this one is not worth our time.
We decided we will never do business with Avis again, in any locations, if the corporate does not seem to care about rude and disrespectful behavior. So we got our car the next morning from a different rental company in Lawrence, who were very professional, able to communicate with the customer well, etc. and all went well.

Renting weekly at Avis the past 3 months has been a real pleasure. From day one Omar's customer service has been impeccable. Not only with me personally, but with every customer I have seen in the store, and some customers are somewhat less than pleasant. Keep up the good work and thanks!

Hassan (at least that's what he said his name was) is absolutely the most unprofessional, rude, disrespectful person to work with. I have never been treated so badly. He has ZERO customer service skills. He thoroughly enjoys making your whole experience the worst it can possibly be, quite litteraly has a smile/smirk on his face all the while telling you he refuses to honor anything that was previously booked. I will never ever step foot in this establishment again and unfortunately will never ever use Avis again because this experience was so intolerable.
Some advice from someone in a customer service industry, building positive relationships in the community no matter how big or small always pays off. Being unprofessional and disrespectful to another person will always ultimately result in a hit to the business.
