Avis Car Rental

Worst car rental place I have encountered in Lawrence. I booked a compact car online. Upon pickup, they gave me a car that was dirty, had sticker residue on it, and smelled like dirt on the inside. I requested a different vehicle but the owner told me they had only one car per category (which later on turned out to be untrue). They said I can rent one category higher with a HEFTY upgrade charge. I was in a pinch, so I ended up paying $102 more than my original booking price ($130) for the upgraded car. Even this vehicle had bumper damage on one corner and smelled like vomit on the inside. It is clear that they don't bother much with repairing or cleaning their vehicles. I put up with that smell for 3 days while I was on the road. Learn from my bad experience. Don't rent from them! Update: I contacted the owner on the number left in the contact below. The person I talked to was very rude an refused to acknowledge to problem at all. This is very disingenuous. Please don't ask people to contact you if you have no intentions of mitigating their complaints.

I just want to acknowledge the great service that Curtis provided from beginning to end. Not only did the transactions go smooth, it was evident that Curtis took pride in his work as I asked questions regarding the vehicle as well as some hypotheticals for when I rent from this location in the future.

The owner was very friendly, the process was easy, and the car was very clean. I typically use Enterprise in Lawrence but they ran out of cars. I tried Avis our and they will be my go to now. I had a much better experience!

If you need to rent a car, go out of your way to get it from THIS Avis. The staff is super friendly and helpful - Abdi is a great guy! If you need a specific car (large, fast, etc.) they can get it in for you with enough notice. Don't rent a car anywhere else in Lawrence, or KC for that matter.

Very limited on available cars (even if you reserve one a week in advance) and horrible customer service. I made a reservation for an economy car, but they apparently forgot to get the car from the main rental hub. Only car on the lot was a minivan. It’s worth it to go to Kansas City.
