We sent my mother here without first taking a tour. We judged based on the Medicare rating being “ much above average “ This place is awful , I could not breathe walking down the hall to her room , the odor was that bad! These poor elderly people are not being taken care of! Thankfully my mother was only there for 3 days . The food was also horrible she said.
My mother recently had another surgery and again needed rehab. Well this time I toured 3 places. NONE of them smelled like urine! They were all clean !
It’s hard enough having a parent get sick , but now I feel so much better she’s comfortable and in a clean facility ! Do not send your loved ones to Briarcliff !
How Medicare rates this above average is beyond me.

My mother was in the private pay memory care unit for 3 years. It was very nice environment and responsive staff. However, when she could no longer pay privately she was placed in Briarcliffe manor nursing home. We were told she would get special consideration due to her long connection there. Well, my mother was placed in a dump! 2nd floor dump. Depressing horrible place. Asked for her to be moved to the newer renovated rooms and the answer was no. Well, I took her out first chance I got. She is now at a beautiful place with better everything. So if your loved one is going to 2nd floor prepare yourself...it’s a dump!

The worse experience my 77year old mother has ever had, they left her on the camod for over a 1/2hr by her self with no call button she was calling for help no one came she was crying, and her room was right next to the nurses station. Every time when she needed to go on the camod the CNA,s would leave the room and lesve my mom all by her self There reson for this was to give her provitcy My mom had the flu a has COPD She couldn't walk one step if she wanted to On day the handle of the camod just fell off an so didn't she than god I was there to catch her I told them not to leave her by her self she d doesn't need privacy That was one of a few nice ways they took care of my mom I would bring a dog there for care They are mean sriprited people (Jan2016)

Placing a loved one who had suffered a stroke and was suffering from dementia into a nursing facility was a difficult endeavor. We feel extremely blessed to be able to do so in a facility that guided us through the process and addressed both physical as well as emotional needs. Briarcliffe deals with both their patients and the families with respect, compassion and professionalism. The facility is set in a very tranquil and relaxing environment. I will continue to recommend Briarcliffe Manor to friends and family.

My dad went to Briarcliffe Manor after he had a stroke. Staff was kind and caring. We really felt comfortable and my dad was very pleased. Nursing and therapy staff were very knowledgeable.
