Great little park with a nice hike. The hike is fairly flat with places to stop along the way. Look for the beaver dams and mounds on your way. The beach is small but the scenery is nice and you can search for fossils. We went in April so it wasn't very crowded. I would assume it's busier in the summer months. Go at low tide if you are fossil hunting.

Great park to visit any time of day, any time of year, with your grandparents or your children. Miles upon miles of hiking trails of various difficulty levels, trails which lead straight to the bay, a great tire park for kids, reserveable pavilions for cookouts, a pond for fishing, I could go on. The park is well maintained and well staffed. It only costs $5 to get in, and somedays it's free. I cannot recommend Calvert cliffs state park enough!

This place is so cool. The hike is easy and goes by quickly. Beach is really nice also and it's exciting for the kids to find shark's teeth.

We enjoyed a lovely picnic and walked down to the beach. The porta potty had toilet paper and hand sanitizer! The picnic tables were clean. If I had to think of a drawback... You have to bring extra cash to enter. But, for $5 it was a great way to spend the afternoon. They had beach toys to help you find fossils. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing afternoon or something to do with small kids. The service road allowed bikes and horses. The walking trail doesn't allow bike. The red trail is wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

My wife and I drove down in June 2016. There is enough parking at the start, then it's a 2 mile hike through the park until you get to the beach. This very fact ensures that it is not overly crowded - you do have to hike for a little while. Nature is wonderfully preserved, in particular the wetlands, and the paths are easy to follow and well kept up. The beach is wonderful as well - we didn't find any fossils, but we weren't trying that hard either. Totally recommend coming here!
