Dunning Subaru

I was in the market for a used Outback and went here first as they are my local Subaru dealer. I was helped immediately by a very helpful salesperson named Nathan Taylor who showed me some great options. I went with another dealer only because they had an older cheaper Outback at the time that fit my needs, but I had nothing but a good experience with Dunning. I most likely will use Dunning for my servicing, so I will update my review after my experience with that. Thanks, Dunning!

Want to relive all your nightmares about car salespeople, including the dreaded Sales Manager who lies to you and refuses to allow you to comparison shop? Then this is your place! I used to like this dealership but not under its current management. They will try to up-sell you on everything. Remember that scene from Fargo with the "clear coat"? Yeah. They will throw in extra charges at the last minute. They won't show you all your options for buying or leasing -- especially the ones that include advertised Subaru specials -- and they'll act aggrieved if you ask for them. Then they will tell you they won't let you leave with their written offer, because they don't allow comparison shopping. If you press them, the Sales Manager Dave will lie to you and say he made a calculation mistake, and you "should have taken his offer." This place is everything people hate about car dealerships. Try a competitor, that's what I'm doing. Want a laugh? Here's what Dave says about himself (from an automatic email survey): "I believe in being more than a Subaru retailer. I believe in being part of my community. In setting an example. In building lifelong relationships. And in ensuring the love is felt not just by our customers, but by all. Not because it's good for business. Because it's the right thing to do." And if you believe that, they've got a bridge to sell you.

Amy Connor was an informative and kind source for our experience, from introduction thru the deal. She is one of the most helpful people I’ve come across during such a daunting process. I would recommend Amy and Dunning Subaru to anyone considering a new or used vehicle in the Ann Arbor area. Thank you for taking the time to understand our needs and building rapport with us.

Bought a used car from it a couple of days before. The staff there is very nice and helpful, accommodates my personal need and preference, provides very considerate post-sale service. I feel very comfortable with them. I would definitely recommend Dunning Subaru if anyone want to buy a car.

Management is great but you always have to speak with them to get anything done. Not a fan of some of the service department staff that "help" you at the desk. Takes forever for any kind of service and don't expect it to happen by the quoted timetable.
